Bought a "lost" HDX

Bought a "lost" HDX 7 - 2013; 3rd gen.
Of course, it is almost unusable.
Got a brand new one that is legit.
The seller refunded my money, but it seems a waste to just have it as a paperweight. My wife fools around with the wifi and searches, but she can't download or read from our network cloud.
What can I do to get it normal?

Thanks;
Curt

Nothing -- if it is blacklisted, the serial number is on Amazon's naughty list. Unless you plan on hacking their database you cannot change that.

Have you considered contacting Amazon so they could facilitate returning the "stolen Tablet" to the proper owners?

It's worth a try, but in the past Amazon have seemed uninterested in recovering blacklisted items.

Side load?

If Amazon does not facilitate returning it to rightful owner, I would think you could still side load books and read them but then of course it still will not synch reading location etc etc

Why would you Buy or keep a stolen item?

Buying a stolen item wasn't intentional, and Amazon seems to have no interest in getting these back to their owner, thus I see no reason not to keep it.

Can't it be used as a standard Android-ish tablet (I don't know)? Couldn't apps be added using Market One or 1Market, or whatever it is?

I bought a blacklisted Kindle Keyboard from a pawnshop. I got hold of Amazon Chat and they told me take it back to the pawnshop. There was no "return it to Amazon" option. They weren't interested in trying to get it back to its rightful owner. I just sideloaded books on it and sent it to my dad.

Any time you buy a kindle from a place like Craigs list or Ebay you are taking a gamble that the unit isn't lost or stolen. i get mine from Amazon usually. I did get one from wal-Mart once before they stopped selling Kindle readers.

I think I've bought about 16 eReaders from pawnshops and Craig's List and I've only had the one blacklisted one. At that time I got three 3G Keyboards for $10 each, so -- even giving one to my brother and giving the blacklisted one to my father -- I came out ahead by selling one on eBay. From the same pawnshop I bought three Kindles (my Kindle Touch) and two Silver KBNTs, for $5 each. The Touch has a small mark right in the middle of the screen and a scratched up bezel, but it's become my main reading machine. One of the KBNTs went to my son -- and, since no one else in my family was interested in the other one -- I sold it on eBay. I bought three more Kindle Touches from CraigsList. Two went to my brother's family (his kids are readers), and one was sold on eBay. I bought it because it came with a lighted case -- so I ended up keeping the case (actually replacing it with a non-lit one) and coming out close to even by selling the Touch. The only Kindles I've actually bought from Amazon, are the Fire HD 6 -- and a black KBNT that I decided I really didn't need and sold it on eBay (a few months before they quit selling them). So that particular move didn't work out too well (I figured I could buy another one any time).

I'm rambling. Sorry.
