Epub Formatting between readers

Hi,

Normally I use Calibre to create/edit my EPUBs. I use them for music purposes and having lyrics/chords. The chords are placed above the lyrics to identify the changes. However, when I send them to a buddy, he uses Coolreader and when he imports them, the text is completely different which messes up the alignment.

Example.

Calibre

A C
Lyrics of the song goes here.

Coolreader

A C
Lyrics of the song goes here

Does anyone know which font is which so that when I create in one, it translates properly to the other?

ePub isn't really designed as a fixed layout format. You might find that PDF is a better format for your intended use, especially if you design the PDF for the target display size.

Reliable formatting is the reason I use PDF for my ebooks. It allows me to put a specific typeface in my ebooks that will display consistently on my ereader along with the other formatting (such paragraph spacing and font size).

However, as touched on by twowheels, its major disadvantage is that PDF ebooks work best when sized for the specific screen size. I use OpenOffice.org to generate my PDF ebooks and if I want to put an ebook I've formatted for one ereader on an ereader with a different screen size I have to reformat the ebook and then regenerate the PDF ebook.

ePub allows you to embed the font(s) you want, have the line height you want, and paragraph spacing you want. I don't know what other formatting you do with your PDF, but ePub can do a lot. You might not need PDF. That way, one ePub would work well for difference screen sizes.
