Clipboard problem
Whenever I close the reader program, my OS clipboard is erased. This doesn't happen with Acrobat reader, Word or Notepad.
Trying to update thousands of entries with "unknown" author by opening the book, copying the author, then closing then editing the metadata and pasting- and there is nothing there. If I leave the book open and paste the author, I get a message it can't update the file because it's open, then I have to close the book, then click back, and click a couple more times to get the metadata update finished. |

*Sigh*
Oh well, even with that minor problem, Calibre is still an awesome program! |

Can anyone confirm whether or not this issue has been fixed? It even interfered with several clipboard managers, which is totally unacceptable. This is the primary reason that I cannot upgrade beyond the last 1.xx version.
Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I figured necromancy was better than starting a new thread on the same topic. |

I use a now defunct gadget (Cfi Shelltoys) to provide an extended clipboard, Clipboard Fusion to scrub out the html, and ClickTo to pop a menu to look 'it' up on google, wikip, amazon etc I can paste a copied author name into metadata edit or via F2 in the book list, and I don't have to exit the reader (calibre viewer?) And none of my clipboard gadgets are affected in any way. What happens if you revert to the standard windows clipboard 'manager'? BR |

@snapinto - I have a neuron telling me that someone had a problem in this area with third party snippets gadget - might have been the one from Phrase Express, or perhaps that's what they switched to.

There's seems to be a disconnect between my question and your answer.
QT5 has (had?) a known bug that caused Calibre to clear the clipboard when closing the program. I want to know if this has been fixed or not. There's nothing to which I can "revert." If I copied text (a standard feature in every iteration of Windows I've ever used), closing Calibre emptied the clipboard. My preferred clipboard manager, ClipX, was interfered with by this bug, losing the last thing I'd copied. It did the same to several other clipboard managers (Ditto, ArsClip, ClipCube, Ethervane Echo, others) that I tried in hopes of finding one that was left unscathed. As I stated before, that's unacceptable. Until this issue is rectified, I can't use newer versions of the program. That said, I'm simply trying to find out if this has been fixed or, if not, if it's going to be. |

@snapinto - I use calibre version 2.18 (64bit) and Sigil (32bit) which both use Qt5 5.3.2 and neither interferes with the operation of the clipboard on Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit.
I copy paragraphs from the calibre viewer regularly, often several times a day, and paste them into my journal/diary. I also cut and paste from Sigil and the calibre book editor into Words Find box. I rely heavily on Shelltoys clipboard history - I'd pull the plug on calibre if it interfered with the clipboard. The Clipboard Fusion program I use for markup scrubbing has a clipboard history feature, I just tested it by clipping stuff from the calibre viewer, the comments panel, the book editor and the Manage authors list, I was able to paste the clips to xplorer2 (file manager), Word and Live Writer. And what I copied is still in the history list. See Release: 2.2 [05 Sep, 2014] BR Last edited by BetterRed; 01-31-2015 at 10:55 PM. |
