Calibre Errors
I have been adding some new files to my Kindle Fire HDX 8.9. They're in Word format. The majority of files on my Kindle are in Word format and I've never had a problem. What's happening is:
1. I add the file through Calibre but when I try to send it to my device I get an error message: "error ![]() Sometimes if I try to save the file a second time it will actually save, but mostly not. 2. I'm unable to delete these files from my Calibre program. 3. When I try to save my Calibre library, I have had the following errors: calibre, version 2.1.0 ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>error</b> ![]() calibre 2.1 isfrozen: True is64bit: False Windows-8-6.2.9200 Windows ('32bit', 'WindowsPE') 32bit process running on 64bit windows ('Windows', '8', '6.2.9200') Python 2.7.8 Windows: ('8', '6.2.9200', '', 'Multiprocessor Free') Successfully initialized third party plugins: Find Duplicates Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\actions\delete.py", line 392, in delete_books File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\actions\delete.py", line 366, in do_library_delete File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\library\models.py", line 361, in delete_books_by_id File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 57, in call_func_with_lock File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 1526, in remove_books File "site-packages\calibre\db\backend.py", line 1405, in windows_check_if_files_in_use File "site-packages\calibre\utils\filenames.py", line 348, in __init__ error: (1920, 'CreateFile', 'The file cannot be accessed by the system.') and also... calibre, version 2.3.0 ERROR: Failed: Could not copy books: [Errno 22] Invalid argument Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\actions\copy_to_library.py", line 111, in run File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\actions\copy_to_library.py", line 133, in doit File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\actions\copy_to_library.py", line 153, in _doit File "site-packages\calibre\db\legacy.py", line 529, in format File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 829, in format File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 57, in call_func_with_lock File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 701, in copy_format_to File "site-packages\calibre\db\backend.py", line 1371, in copy_format_to File "site-packages\calibre\startup.py", line 168, in local_open OSError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument *in fact I just now tried to Copy the Library and usually I have 441 authors saved and I now only have 67. 4. Are you storing your library on a networked drive? (If so, don't!!)

I've never had this problem before. It's a recent thing - in the last month or so and I've been storing my kindle info on here for about 3 years.

From those errors your calibre library folder has a whole bunch of invalid files in it. Your best bet for recovery is to create a new empty library and then right click the add books button, choose add books from sub-folder, one book per folder) and select the old calibre library folder.

I have over 1500 files on my kindle. Would there possibly be a quicker way?
I just tried highlighting the whole library in Calibre and copied it to the calibre Library - minus those books I couldn't save to my kindle nor delete. I got this error: calibre, version 2.4.0 ERROR: Failed: Could not copy books: SQLError: no such savepoint: _apsw-0 Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\actions\copy_to_library.py", line 111, in run File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\actions\copy_to_library.py", line 133, in doit File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\actions\copy_to_library.py", line 171, in _doit File "site-packages\calibre\db\legacy.py", line 240, in import_book File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 1503, in add_books File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 57, in call_func_with_lock File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 1474, in create_book_entry File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 1215, in set_metadata File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 1202, in set_field File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 1033, in set_field File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 970, in mark_as_dirty File "site-packages\calibre\db\cache.py", line 963, in update_last_modified File "site-packages\calibre\db\write.py", line 513, in set_books File "site-packages\calibre\db\write.py", line 178, in one_one_in_books File "site-packages\calibre\db\backend.py", line 805, in executemany SQLError: SQLError: no such savepoint: _apsw-0 |

In order to copy from library to library, you would need a healthy database.

Suggestions anyone? Hopefully other than the option of re-adding one at a time. Which I will do if I have no other option....

Have you checked to ensure there are no physical errors on the disk; unreadable blocks?

No, do you mean through Windows, My Computer? I can't see an option to check the disk. How would I do that?

Hi, I'm unable to copy to my Calibre Library. It's been fine until just recently. The error I'm receiving is:

I am getting a communication error between Calibre and my Fire. It was working previously. The error appears somewhat similar to the one posted previously. I am not computer savvy and have as of yet not determined how to create a new thread so am replying to this one. Here is the error I receive:

Error appears to be related to microSD card. Sending to the device's main memory for the same books produced no error. Is there an easy way to transfer ebooks from main memory to MicroSD?
