Viewer question
When viewing an ePub book using the built-in viewer, I noticed that the characters on the right side are clipped. See the attached image. This happens for both Mobi and ePub formats.
Searching the forum for questions about the right margin, I found this post by HarryT which explains how to set a larger right margin in the output profile. So, I followed the directions and the ePub appears to have the correct values in its CSS: Code:
.calibre { display: block; font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.2; padding-left: 0; padding-right: 0; text-align: justify; margin: 0 15pt 0 5pt } Environment is Windows 7 Professional, Calibre 1.42 Portable. I started with an ePub downloaded from Baen. (Interestingly, it had six style sheets each with a name containing "calibre".) I created a new ePub using the larger right margin value given by HarryT. Also created a Mobi file with the same output values. I couldn't identify which subforum, if any, should be used. If this post is in the wrong place, please pardon me. |

This has nothing to do with the CSS and is caused by a bug in Qt WebKit with certain fonts. You should try changing the fonts int he viewer preferences, you will have to experiment with a few fonts till you find one that works.

Viewer and Embedded Font
Dear kovidgoyal,
Somehow Viewer (even the 1.46 version - Portable one) doesn't show embedded font, while Editor and even Moon Reader Pro has no problem. This is the epub I created https://db.tt/BEqBqJfN |

Use the qt 5 version of calibre from https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=242223
or replace the %20 with space characters in fonts.css or better yet, change the name of the font file to not include spaces at all. |
