One very interesting fact about his writing is that Mr. Michener started out writing school text books and was told to stick to the writing that he knew. He didn't listen and won the Pulitzer Prize for his 1st fiction book "Tales of the South Pacific." He was also an orphan (abandoned) whose adopted mother gave him his name.

I read Mexico years ago and loved it I've always planned to give Hawaii a go but have never got around to it
