GLO firmware version
Hi all

There is a file called version found in the /mnt/onboard/.kobo folder
or on the PC mapped as DRIVELETTER:/.kobo/version

How is this deciphered.

I recently experienced python and or pygame failing with the latest version of firmware and have purchased a few new units and need to know if i need to downgrade them..

Can anyone overcome the recent firmware ( only a few weeks ago that broke python pygame )

The python/pygame binary I uploaded here a while back doesn't work on firmware versions 2.6 and beyond because Kobo switched to a new compiler. I haven't gotten python to compile with the new compiler yet, but I still hope to get it done sometime. For now if you want to use python on your Kobo you'll need to use firmware 2.5 or below.

KevinShort's answer probably the right one. But, there seems to be only three changing values in the file. The first value is the device serial number. The third is the current firmware version. The last value appears to be device dependent. My Touch has "310" as the last three characters and my Glo has "330".

You can probably find pre-compiled builds of python and pygame on the internet for armhf architecture. With firmware 2.6 onwards, they moved from armel to armhf.
