T1 Tips
Not sure if we already have a list of tips specific to the T1, but thought it would be good to start one. Here's a few I have noticed:
- from the Home screen, hit the 'menu' buttton (right-most silver button), to display the time in the notification bar up-top - tap the top-right corner of any page to create/delete a bookmark (i know it's in the manuals and quick-start guide, but still useful) Last edited by nindustrial; 12-12-2011 at 02:59 PM. |

Thanks for those tips. The Manual isn't that easy to find things.

In those lines, can somebody tell me how to check the battery level? there is the icon, but is there a way to get actual number of the level?

Another one that may be obvious - for you smartphone users out there with tethering, connect your T1 to your phone's virtual hotspot = instant portable internet for immediate ebook downloads on the fly.

Reduce the Gloss
First post! Wife is getting me a T1 for X-mas. I looked all the e-readers in stores and liked the feel of the Sony best.
The glossy frame did bother me, but I had the same glare problem on another piece of plastic on an electronic item. The fix is simple. Get a scotchbrite pad (or equivalent) from the home store. Be sure to get the finest pad they have. Alternatively the glass cooktop cleaning pads work also. Simply rub until you reach the desired level of glossyness. I would recommend putting some masking tape on the screen and buttons just in case you slip. If you are unsure and want to try it out, use one of the edges which also has the glossy surface. If it does not work to your liking, you ![]() Bear100 |

No doubt you can do that, just another option for those who would rather put the $ towards books. Not sure that this would void the warranty? Just look at my cell phone which has gotten the glossy worn from the phone from regular use.

I'm too busy reading my books to notice any glossyness. You people sure are finicky!

Why would you even consider damaging your new reader?? That's ridiculous to me.

The biggest thing for me is Dropbox.
I set up a dedicated folder in Dropbox for my Instapaper articles. Once a day, I go into my Instapaper account on my web browser, and upload my latest articles to the Dropbox folder using the ePub converter. I can do this from any computer, and my iPad or iPhone. I have Dropbox set up as my Home Page on the T1, so I can download the compiled articles file for the day to the T1, as a separate book. Each article shows up as a link in the table of contents. I also put an alias to my calibre library into Dropbox, so I can add any book I have to the T1 so long as I can find a wireless hotspot - like MacDonalds. |
