Hello everyone, I've just joined, as I have ordered my first eReader - a Kobo Touch - from Borders (was that really wise?), because I couldn't wait for the release in Australia.

When I canvassed my friends, those that replied had a first generation kobo and were delighted with it, so I took a deep breath and decided Kobo was for me, though I chose the Touch which has just been released. So far I've had two emails from Borders, the last to say it was on its way. I'll keep you posted.

i've bought my eReader to catch up with all the books I had to leave behind when I retired to a small unit. My home in NZ had 240 feet total of bookshelves - I brought only 10 feet with me. (Isn't that a clinical way to look at my beloved books?) The ones I regret most are the Golden Age of Scifi. sigh! I plan to read free ebooks until my eyes give out.

Hi Joybells and welcome to MobileRead. I had the same problem; too many books in a small apartment. So, I got a Sony three and a half years ago and that solved the problem. And I love reading on it!

Be sure and let us know when you get your Kobo.

Welcome, Joybells! I still consider myself a newcomer here. Sounds like you and I will be scouting out the same books on the Freebie thread.
