sony prs505 not reading sony sd card
Having problems with the reader and the SD card. The card and reader comes up on calibre but when i click on the card only about 30 books come up and there should be about 900 odd books on it. Obviously I have a problem with the card but am wondering how to retrieve the data. Prob have the books on pc but they are on about 3 different pcs and different folders etc so to try to get the collection together will be a nightmare. Card has worked fine for about 6 years since I bought the reader.

Open the card as a folder and see what is really on it.

You might need to run a 'disk repair' on the card. Detachable drives are subject to

Have looked at the file folder and all the books appear to be on the card so have copied them to one area on my pc to back up. Went back into calibre but only 30 odd appearing on card there. Do I need to delete these 30 or all of them from the card. Do I need to format the card or is it a book that is the problem?

Do you have a format: filter in place? (the filtered count number usually will be surrounded by yellow on the toolbar)

checked format and preferred format is eput dont see a filter for it. using version 0.6.54 as had problems with update a good while ago and only way of sorting was to use that version

You have one of those old Sony's that causes you to run 'Antique' Calibre.
I don't have a screen shot, but the search/filter I am talking about is above where the Tags browser can appear.

the window should only show: "Restrict to"

Update - following various pieces of advice I transferred my books from the sony sd card to my pc. I then put three books onto it and turned the reader on and low and behold it worked. It is obviously one particular book that caused the problem so will rebuild the collection slowly onto the card. Thanks to everyone for their help
