Yet another bag thread - Targus 10.2 Intersection iPad / Netbook Sleeve

I can't decide from the specs whether or not this bag would actually hold the edge. Anyone with better spatial perception or who has already tried a bunch of bags out and has some field experience care to wager a guess?

I'm looking at the numbers, and it looks like it *should* work. A little problematic because it looks like the entire height (well, length - it's a vertical bag) isn't part of the actual compartment, so I don't know how much of those 15" are actually available to hold the netbook.

Dimensions of bag: 15" x 10" x 2.75"
Dimensions of edge (in same vertical orientation): 10.75" X 8.25" X 1.0"

(A couple more views at eBags.)

You have to admit, it's just so girlie pretty!

I like vertical bags, and cross body slings. Mostly if I ever take the edge out and about, it will be pretty much the only thing I take with me since I almost never even carry a purse, so I'm not worried about carrying a lot of other stuff. I already have a bag for airplane carry-on that also holds my laptop and other things. I'm thinking of something like this more for when I'm stuck in a hotel for a conference and I'm waiting for hubby down in the lobby and decide I'd rather have my edge with me while I wait or while we're socializing in the bar. Or, if we're out in town for the day and we know we'll stop by a place with wireless for coffee/lunch throughout the day. That kind of thing.

So those of you who actually do take your edges out and about with you, what do you think? Am I missing something that makes it blatantly unsuitable to try? (Obviously I'm no where near a place that sells these, so it would be an online purchase, or I'd just try it out myself.)

It's should fit just fine. I have a vertical bag http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/7918/dsc00097ze.jpg. Dimensions: 33 cm X 28 cm. And I still get enough free space for power adapter etc. It's not that girlie , but it serves the purpose. And at a price of $4, it's a bargain.

Looks like it should fit. My out-and-about bag (http://www.ebags.com/product/calpak/...calpak%20sling) is also vertical, though the eDGe fits in either orientation. I also use this for flying since it's quite roomy. I'm still hoping someone will come up with a solar bag that doesn't look like it was made from a camping tent and with enough juice to power the eDGe. I'm thinking Italian leather, but I suspect my expectations are out of synch with the supply.

Thanks for the replies. I figured it *should* fit because it even (just barely) fits my current bag which is 9" by 10" (similar in outer appearance to emen's bag - not girlie!). I originally bought it for an 8.9" tablet PC (9" X 6.75" X 1.75") day bag.

Sorry pics are so big, but since it technically does hold the edge, charger etc., I thought I'd post a few pictures in case others are interested.

The only problem is that the edge stretches the top zipper (under the flap) when properly closed. There's more room in the main section for stuff to sit beside the edge, but I wouldn't want to keep putting that strain on the zipper regularly, and more worrisome, I know it's putting pressure on the edge itself when the zipper is closed. In a pinch, I can leave the top zipper open and just buckle the front flap that folds over it, which is much more forgiving. I guess there's just a nagging voice telling me that if the zipper doesn't really close, then it's not the right bag; maybe it just makes me feel a little ghetto and I just need to get over it rather than buy yet another bag!

Otherwise, the Derek Alexander nylon thing is an awesome unisex bag, and small enough that I can totally get away with calling it a "purse" (personal item) when flying. I can live with it, for sure. I just happened to see this other one on sale and started to be tempted...

LOL! I don't think it's ghetto, but for the safety of your eDGe, I'd buy a bag that zips shut without stress. Go ahead and buy a new bag! NB: I love bags and won't be much use in talking you out of buying one!

Hi Sarah, I have my edge listed as my default laptop on ebags, and per their calculator, this DOES NOT fit. Looks like the inside dimensions are 10.62 x 8.27 x 1.57. So just misses. I liked it too and was sorry to see it wouldn't fit.

Oh well, keep searching!

Too bad. Nice bag. Handy tool at ebags.com, though.

I bought a backpack for a netbook in amazon, the Edge fits really well and has rooms for the accessories. It is available in 4 colors.

Really? I tried searching for the edge as my default laptop setting and I couldn't find it in the list. I guess I must have missed it. That's awesome to know it's there. Thanks.

Both backpacks look great, and ever since I turned 30 I'm just a sucker for purses/bags now. Never was before. Guess the girliness took a while to set in. But, I'm rather bulky myself, so I'm constantly in search of bags with slim profiles! I do like handsfree, which is why I normally go for crossovers. eBags does have something billed as an iPad sling that might be about as non-comical as I can look with a backpack.

mgk, I just tried setting my default laptop on eBags and I can't for the life of me see Entourage in the brand (which you have to select first). Is it listed under another name? EDIT: Or, did you just type the dimensions in manually? (Just noticed I can do that now.)

You know what though, if it fits in my 10" bag, then I bet it would fit in the 10.62 with minimal force/stretching. the 8.25 is cutting it much more close, though. eBays has their back to school 20% off sale for the next couple of days, and this bag is now under $22, too! Tempting to give it a shot to try it....

Sorry, I mispoke. They don't have the edge listed, but you can put in your own dimensions if your device isn't listed, which is what I did.

Oh, I hadn't known you could do this either. Good to know. Thanks!

I use this handy little guy to carry my eDGe in. It's very lightweight, durable and can hold the adapter in the small front compartment. Perfect for traveling around NYC when a laptop isn't needed. The only downside is that there is no padding/Sleeve

UPDATE!!!!

The company that makes it is called Gemline- the product can be found here http://www.gemline.com/Gemline/produ...atid=0&desid=0

The link is broken, but you can find the bag by going to www.gemline.com and clicking on "Products" in the main nav, then "Backpacks" in the sub-nav.
