K3g help

HELP...
o.k. I should have read up here first but I am impulsive. I have a K3g with the jailbreak & SS hack installed. I tried installing new 3.1 upgrade and received "unsuccessful install". Then I tried to uninstall SS & jailbreak - they will not uninstall so I can not upgrade... Is there a way to put things back to square 1 so I can install upgrade and wait for new hack? TNKS!

It should install okay, mine did and I have the jailbreak and SS hack. I would have another go now as it sounds like its already done enough of an upgrade to prevent you unistalling the hacks, so you need to get your Kindle successfully upgraded and then hope (like me) someone comes up with an unistall hack for jailbreaked 3.1s

I reattempted the 3.1 install again after the unsuccessful hack "un"installs and it still will not upgrade

If 3.1 didn't successfully apply then it means you've either got other hacks in there or your hacks are very old as the old versions would prevent updates from applying.

The only hacks I have installed were the jailbreak (0.4N) & screensaver

Screensaver version is 0.18. All files downloaded from: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88004 within the last 2 weeks. I am using the corresponding uninstall files that were included with the archives for K3g.

Try putting it in the 'documents' folder inside the kindle. It has to be Kindle compatible (such as .mobi, .prc, etc) and not have DRM from other booksellers. Otherwise you have to use Calibre to convert to .mobi. However first try is to paste it in 'documents' folder.

Problem solved with 3.1 upgrade. I reinstalled both the jailbreak & SS hack and then removed in opposite order. There were some leftover files & folders with todays date on them and I deleted all. 3.1 finally installed and all systems nominal. Thanks for all your help.

P.S. I also learned that ejecting via the task bar is fubar here, gotta eject from device icons...well da that is stupid!
