That way, Brandon Sanderson can finish it off in a timely fashion. I wonder which fan group GRRM should be more irritated about?

I never said: "I suggest you shut the fuck up" to anybody here. GRRM did that. All I did was give my opinion on that situation. And that opinion, because I can tell you don't get it, boils down to this: We shouldn't worry about the things we can't change or influence. or as Americans say it: Don't sweat the small stuff. GRRM and all his shenanigans are small stuff to me. I wouldn't dream of being bitter about a few books. Um, excuse me Mr. Martin can you make sure you have written everything before you die, because I really want to read how it ends? That my friend is a shit attitude to have in this world. The sun doesn't revolve around you and it's not called GRRM either.

I'm not a Sanderson fan. I tried Elantris, and he totally put me off with his philosophizing, slow pace (no wonder he could finish Jordan), and all around boring dialogue. He doesn't write complex worlds, like GRRM does. His main quality is unique magic systems, and that really doesn't fit with ASOIAF where you have low magic fantasy world. I will give him another try with Mistborn, but if he fails there, I wont bother anymore.

And that's why we cant' have nice things. You specifically (in your first post) said that people need to stfu about it. I am people. Then the blah, blah (George is not your entertainment slave) variation on Gaiman's meme. Sounding for all the world like you believed it was completely impossible for someone to be worried about George's health/age jeopardizing the completion of a beloved series WITHOUT also being a callous creep who beieved George was nothing but their Entertainment Slave. You promptly dismissed anybody's opinion that wasn't yours (They're Just Books), and made the discussion about "who and how" those people (whose opinions differed from yours) "were", but yet got angry/defensive when someone dared make it about who and how you are. Good day. Last edited by DiapDealer; 07-16-2014 at 12:59 PM. |

I have enjoyed just about everything Sanderson wrote and the man understands the concept of writing on a regular basis.

I have absolutely no idea what these books are about. Do dragons get killed in these stories? |

You can't rush art, and writing is art. If he rushes it, it would probably just suck more. I'll take slow if it results in a better product in the end. |

I don't really care what your opinion of Sanderson's writing is -- I happen to believe he does an excellent job at both. Elantris was his first book, so perhaps not representative of his current skill level although even so I enjoyed it tremendously. I happen to like both GRRM's writing (when he gets around to it) and Sanderson's, but plenty of people like Sanderson and not GRRM. Others, like you, enjoy GRRM but not Sanderson. Different strokes for different folks; there will be as many of your lot who will ditch ASOIAF if Sanderson takes over as will only start the series so they can read how Sanderson steers it. I get the best of both worlds. No one really needs your approval except you. Quote:
I don't really want GRRM to die, of course (see above) but I do think Sanderson would do a great job. At least I know if GRRM does die, things will still turn out all right, so I'm not too concerned about what does happen.

Im not talking about homo sapiens species here. Dont cloud the issue by expanding the definition of people in this case conveniently. Im talking about people who go around acting like crybabies. As far as I saw, neither you nor I belong in that group. Quote:
Most of these people from their posts on yt, twitter and other internet social sites go around measuring size of Martin's coffin. And while that would be utterly despicable if it was any other person it is somehow ok here, because he has books to write. Quote:
