I'd say all three. Netbooks usually have: 10" displays, 1~2 GB RAM, 160~250 GB HDD, 1~2 GHz Intel Atom chip, webcam, NO optical drive, weigh less than 3 lbs, and priced $250~400.

I'd say it's screen size. The weight and price should come down and the specs should rise over time, but it's the form factor that makes them a netbook. (I'd say anything with a 10" to 12" screen, unless you want to start calling the 12" ones mini-laptops. I'm not sure 'notebook' has really caught on.)

The simple fact of "don't need iTunes" make android way better the iOS to me. And that without adding the other thing i can do with android (use my phone as modem, use mp3 as ringtone) out of the box, that the iPhone requires you to mess around for such basic things , as well as putting music or video on your phone. Just so much easier the android way.

As to windows, it seam to work out fine for lots of people.
? lnstall & activate iTunes on an iPhone? It comes installed. There is no "activation," unless you mean that if you don't have an Apple account, you need to get one to buy from the iTunes Store. No different than buying from anywhere else.

She means you need to activate the iPhone by connecting it to a computer which has iTunes installed. Then any file transferring is also handled through iTunes.

Android phones do not require such activation. And when you plug them into a computer they function as an external drive.

What you say is true, but only if you don't already have an iPhone. If you had an iPhone, would your next purchase be a 7 inch pad or the current iPad? I think many (most) people would buy the current one, while and a smaller number would buy the 7. Would very many people buy both a current ipad AND a 7 incher? And how many people might ditch their iPhones for a basic phone plus a 7 incher?

It seems to me that the 7 incher does not enlarge Apple's sales - it just redistributes them.

Now personally, I'd get both. But it would be an extravagance.

The 11" Air does throw a small wrench into the iPad decision, given its nearly-instant-on with 30-day standby and considerably more horsepower. Still not a tablet though.
I read somewhere that they have a patent on a screen hinge that would convert an Air into a Pad.

Sometimes the operator will activate the phone (or will do if you ask).

Anyway, a friend of mine came in "can you help me fix my computer, i need to install iTunes so I can activate my brand new iPhone." Me :

Sort of a level playing field competition...

7" Galaxy Tablet with Wi-Fi only is rumored
http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/25/g...499-99-sprint/
to be headed towards Best Buy. Where it can compete with the no-contract iPad in the same store.

From a weight perspective it will be 380 g (0.84 lb) for the Galaxy Tab versus 680 g (1.5 lb) for the iPad.

mldavis2 point about the size of the print area in a paperback is a cogent one --- high-density displays on cell phones make them much more useable for such reading.

Also, the clothing you describe is most commonly found with that size pocket for men, which leaves women in a not-good situation. Even if we want to carry a purse all the time (I'm sure I'm not the only woman around who doesn't always want to have to keep track of the thing), the point was made in another post that a lot of purses just don't have room for something the size of a Kindle or iPad. If a given article of female clothing has pockets (an annoying percentage do not), they're very likely to be too small to hold such a device.

You were able to find a cell phone that runs on AAs or AAAs? Or do you just not have a cell phone?

Still, Jobs doesn't like net books, but they sell in the tens of millions.

I have to disagree with you. The 7 inch screen allows me to read something. I can't do that on my phone. Any of us with low vision just can't do that.
