appreg.db cannot be the primary source of that information as it is recreated when the device is reset. The two candidates for classes containing the IDs are these: Code:
/opt/amazon/ebook/lib/kaf.jar:com.amazon.kindle.identity.KindleIdentity.class /opt/amazon/ebook/lib/kaf.jar:com.amazon.kindle.restricted.identity.impl.KindleIdentityService.class |

@makro514: I'll switch to PM if you prefer French, so as not to clutter the thread.
@dsmid: Hmm. Strange, DarkAngel88's device is running on 5.4.3.2... |

Gah. Paperwhite 2 failure.
Hi NiLuJe! I'm in the UK and I got my shiny new PaperWhite 2 WiFi + 3G on 5.4.3.2 yesterday.
Whatever I try, 'Update Your Kindle' is greyed out, and I believe I know the cause but not the solution. My serial number prefix is '9060', which did not appear on https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kindle_Serial_Numbers until I added it earlier into the European category (not sure if that was the correct place, but pretty sure the UK is in Europe...). One other interesting point is that both my laptop and the Kindle itself report that it has 3.4GB of free storage, which smells to me like a 4GB model. I thought these were only in Japan, but cool huh? Was I maybe sent a Japanese model for some unknown reason? Is 9060 maybe the Japanese 90xx serial prefix? I have no idea, and I'm kinda hoping that maybe you have some answers. Will. |

@williamrochira: Yup, I was dreading the appearance of the 3G variants... >_<".
Will update stuff later tonight, thanks ![]() |

@NiLuJe
Thank you so much for your quick reply and instant fix. I assume for the 'USBNet' I only need the binary file, not the shell script in the source folder? Thanks, Will. Last edited by afterbox; 04-30-2018 at 02:17 PM. |

@williamrochira: Same packaging as usual, put the correct .bin file in the usb root, eject & unplug, update.

One more request... I believe you may ask me to move to the MKK thread for this one, but I thought I'd try you here first. MKK binary is also disappearing from the device, I was wondering if you could help me out with that? Is this compatibility issue going to be present with every binary I try to install? Will. |

@williamrochira: Yes. Right now, the only update packages that will work are on the snapshots thread. There's a MKK link there, although Kindlets may or may not actually run on those 'new' devices right now.

Aha! I must have missed the snapshots MKK link the first time round. Thanks again! EDIT: KUAL still doesn't work, I'm getting an error saying the application could not be started. Any thoughts? Last edited by afterbox; 07-15-2014 at 06:00 PM. Reason: Added |

Please.
I have not registered my Kindle PW2. If I implement the JailBreak, will I have access to all functionality? Or do I have to register the Kindle for access, for example: search Wikipedia? Tks. Note: Firmware my Kindle PW2: Kindle 5.4.2.1. |

Although there are hackish methods to trick the Kindle into thinking it is registered.
Step one is to jailbreak and get command-line access. ![]() |
