SVG is nice, but if there are text (and fonts), Ibooks have *big* problem in SVG fonts. JPG and PNG could be a good choice. Please do not make a BIG cover. Usually I prefer to stay inside 140k, more or less. Older ebook reader could be stressed by too big images. |

Hmm, I've exported pages from Sibelius to SVG and put in to Sigil. The manual says:
Switch to Book View by clicking the Book View button , selecting the menu item View→Book View or its keyboard shortcut: I see neither a Book View button and there's no "Book View" in the View menu. For the Calibre manual I see Export Files and a search for the word "import" delivers nothing. This is what is disheartening. Even the most simple beginner task seems hidden someplace? It reminds me when I tried to construct my own website using Dreamweaver . . . too hard. Then programs like Weebly came along and WIX came along and life was good! All help manuals should start with opening files and viewing them. Can someone help me w/the "Book View" for files in Sigil and loading SVG's into Calibre? p.i of my book in Sigil is attached :-) It probably shouldn't be in "images" folder. Is SVG the proper format or should I do the text in WORD and insert images? Thx, Last edited by Riqiv23; 03-31-2016 at 05:16 PM. |

Here is an image of the Book View Button:
And if you click on "View" in the menu it is the second item down the list...under toolbars.... it has the same image of a book...and it has the title "Book View" ![]() I can't really help with the mac aspect...choices have consequences...but Sigil works fine. ![]() |

Yes thx Turtle91 - you guys are GREAT or I would've given up a couple days ago . . . but I have renewed faith (and pardon my former rant). I'm getting this view (which I should have included in the first place). (Note: I am using SVG files on each page.) Book View is greyed out in menu and as an icon. |

You can have the book preview in XHTML file, not in SVG one.
Link the SVG in XHTML, and see the book preview. For example, if the SVG file is called "Image0001.svg", insert a Code:
<img alt="Image0001" src="../Images/Image0001.svg" /> |

The file is called: Modern Patterns & Warm-ups for Jazz_0000I.svg Two questions: 1) The finished name after editing will be: Modern Patterns & Warm-ups for Jazz_0000I.svg <img alt="Image0001" src="../Images/Image0001.svg" /> or something else. 2) And is that where the insertion is done or is it done in the right-hand column w/the XHTML. |

You are going to find Dreamweaver SO easy after you've conquered Sigil :-) And you can, once you "fall in" to how it works. It IS rocket science, to an extent. So you need to be the sort of person who enjoys rocket science. But it isn't HARD rocket science. One more tip - forget Book View. You've got Code View where you do the real work. The Preview window where you get an (approximate) idea of what the result will be. But Book View should have been removed when Preview was introduced. It may look like the "easy" editing option. But it's not much use. Last edited by exaltedwombat; 04-01-2016 at 08:32 AM. |

===== brzvnrnd & exalted wombat - thx, yes, this may not be my cup of tea . . . coding. Plus, it's more of a visual thing. I've got some old books on HTML, but this will require too much hand-holding to learn online and the books aren't specific to this task. I'll look for a teacher I can visit in NYC or vice versa as I have to <b>see</b> what they are doing. In the meantime ![]() If I get up and running and get past the newbie stage, I'll return with more specific questions. |
