Not that the engineering difficulty presented by the USB port rises above rudimentary solutions that even a high school student could solve cheaply and effectively. See the Kobo H2O for an example. ![]() Why would one want to make the device less reliable? Wireless fails more often than wired solutions. Last edited by Phogg; 04-07-2016 at 04:11 PM. |

What can you do currently via 3G enabled kindles? I think it only facilitates the access to the store to buy and download books right?
If you could access Wikipedia entries through it I might consider it this time . |

Currently 3G is for the Amazon store and Wikipedia, everything else is blocked in the experimental browser except when on WiFi.

Features I would be excited to see:
- Different form factor. Either smaller, like a pocket-sized Kindle, or much larger, like DX sized... as long as they have a nice quality frontlight. - a LARGE, evenly frontlit color screen that has vivid colors and is readable in direct sunlight. If it were big enough to display a full-size comic, that would be amazing. - Squeeze bars like on the Voyage, but that maybe run the length of the device so you can customize where you squeeze to turn the page forward/back. - Auto brightness that works well Features that are frequently requested that I would not be excited to see - just sharing my opinion, these features potentially add to the size/weight/cost of the device, detract from the aesthetics, and add no value for me and I suspect they would add little value for most users: - Speakers. Any modern phone or tablet can read my books to me. - Removable storage. My Voyage already can hold more books that I can read in my lifetime. - Buttons. I'm a fan of the sensors on the Voyage and feel they can continue down that path and make them better. Let's not forget the obnoxious clicking noises some of the older Kindles made when pressing the buttons too... - Replaceable battery. Improvements that will likely be made that I don't care about: - Higher resolution screen - Faster page refreshes - Better battery life ... as for what will actually come out next week, who knows. I'm excited though! Last edited by positively4th; 04-07-2016 at 05:08 PM. |

I don't know if the H2O and the Nook Glowlight Plus are equally waterproof but the Nook has the advantage of not having to pry off a cover to charge it. At this point I think the only thing that might get me to buy another Kindle is a color screen. I don't care about any of the other features mentioned. And even then I'd find it hard to give up the customization of my Kobos -- along with font size and spacing options I'm also very attached to book covers as screensavers and book title at the top of every page. My ideal non-color reader would be a new six-inch Kobo Aura with a screen like the Glo HD (perfect size/proportions and flush screen) but I guess that isn't going to happen. |

It's interesting to me to see many mentions of TTS. I thought I was in the small minority on that one. Is this the influence of the fire/echo?
I'd like to see a larger screen. 7 inch-ish in a form factor not much bigger than current. It'll be good to see a liquavista device because it seems to me e-ink's potential is pretty much tapped out. The first iteration probably won't be very good but you've gotta start some time. |

The only thing I need, having a voyage, is that the screensaver became the cover of the book I'm reading without having to jailbreak the kindle.

An Alexa enabled e-ink Kindle that allows you to buy and download books, listen to audible books and use TTS with just voice commands. That'd be something different wouldn't it? |

I agree. Prying off the rubber plug that covers the USB port on the H2O in order to connect it to my PC was a nuisance. I don't personally need a waterproof device.

A rubber bung is the wrong way to make a USB port waterproof. Gold plated contacts, automatic short detection/protection, and IP67 rated is the way to go.

I voted for stuff I would like to have, not for what I thought it will have.
Sorry, Paul, I didn't have all that much fun doing it. Maybe if there was money riding on the outcome.... ![]() |

Ok let's go Santa, here's what I'd like :
- A less reflective front side On the Voyage, the bezel is as reflective as the screen, which is too much for me when I read outside. - Page buttons on each side, wich allow to change page with one hand. - A faster processor. Sometime, the dictionnary take at least 4 seconds to appears. That's it for the hardware And for the software, I would like only one feature : Similar to tvshow, I would love to see a "previously" at each begin of chapter, wich resume the previous chapters. Really useful when you have stopped to read the book for many days. Of course, this feature could be switched-off. |

I do see now that I should have done two polls. One for features you want the new Kindle to have, and one for features you expect the new Kindle to have.
As it is, I think the small number of people who filled in the poll as stated are swamped by those who've picked what they want to see. |
