I'm not attacking you, Harry; I don't have nay first-hand knowledge either. I just wanted to make the point that (unless I missed something) this whole discussion is based on claims from a nontechnical person who read some marketing materials. We can't really say what is or is not possible because we don't actually know. |

One doesn't have to have experience of working with these devices to be able to look at the device specification on the Freescale web site and see that the i.MX7 CPU is more powerful and uses less power than the i.MX6SL that the current Voyage uses, and could, therefore, be advantageously used in a future reader. Of course that doesn't mean that it will be. As I said yesterday, time will tell.
And I entirely agree that the Goodereader article is pure speculation. |

The logic of making predictions is interesting. We've all read articles where predictions are revistited with laughable results but predictions are still made. I was at a party years ago and someone asked who the Democrat nominees for president and vice-president would be. My prediction was Sen. Ted Kennedy and someone else. Everyone laughed. Later in the evening someone asked if I seriously thought Ted Kennedy could get the nomination. "No." "Then why make that prediction?" "If he doesn't get it, it won't matter but if he does people will remember this and think I'm brilliant. And, it got a laugh."
So, if Kindle doesn't come out with a new Voyage this fall nothing has been lost. If they do, some will think GoodEreader knows what's happening. |

I predict that I will not buy a new Voyage this November. (I already feel guilty over the amount I spent on the "1st edition")

I predict that many people who feel guilty over the amount they spent on the Voyage I will buy the Voyage II anyway. Call me Kozlowski.

I don't understand the hoopla over the price of the Voyage. Yes, it's expensive for an e-reader. But it's cheap compared to most other gadgets. And if you're a heavy reader, you likely spend more time using it than you do a phone or tablet.

My Voyage cost more than all my other personal gadgets, (my phone, my Kobo readers, my tablets) and more than the three chromebooks I've bought. It's the most I've ever spent on a portable gadget for myself or my 4 kids.

A 2015 Voyage might be a minor improvement, like a subtle change in the body, a faster processor, more RAM and then be quietly released. |

The Voyage is $200. The average Chromebook is around $220. Tablets about $250+. Phones (off contract) forget about it brother. Also, the Voyage is top of the line. If I were to compare to top of the line devices in those markets, the difference would be a LOT more. I don't mean to debate with you. I was just trying to show where I'm coming from. |

I don't see why not a new Voyage by november. It would be over a year after the first Voyage.
PW was released on 2012, then PW2 by 2013, then the 4GB PW2 on 2014, and now PW3. With the baseline kindles they have more or less the same frequency between releases. They're very enthusiastic about yearly releasing new models/revisions of each line, which I believe it's fine since e-ink ereaders are on important evolution stages. My greatest wish is that they could improve the frontlit tech, along with the rest of the device. Make the evenly distributed front light granted for the picky eye, and not just a matter of luck. ![]() FYI - just got my son this Chromebook for $109. Excellent deal! He loves it. (This is a replacement for the one he broke, which was $129 IIRC) Now back to the topic. |

My Voyage, bought from the U.S. was $219. My phone, a Nexus 5, bought unlocked in Mexico was about $800. My laptop was about $700. My desktop was $1000 without monitors.

![]() Wife has KV (she reads way more than me) I have a PW2 - as and when a KV2 comes out if it looks good will get wife KV2 and take over her existing KV, pass PW2 to daughter to replace her PW. Family upgrade cycle, maxamise value for money... ![]() Wish they hadn't changed the physical format between PW and KV - the official cases are nice and enhance the reading experience but are expensive. I don't think the reduced size/weight of the KV against the PW2 made any difference in the real world, just pushed the cost of upgrade up by £60. If the KV2 has a different form factor and needs a new case I wont be buying. |
