Does anyone know which version of Android this is? I know it still says Eclair (wasn't Froyo supposed to be up in March?), but I tried to download the new Aldiko and it's giving me the parsing error because it's not compatible with the device, but it's supposed to work with Android 2.1 or higher. Are we still lower than 2.1?

aldiko did not work because you need to change the build.prop file.

The easiest way of dealing with this issue is to read this thread by tselling (firmware 2.05): https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...highlight=ugly

then download and apply the same instructions to 2.06 by reading post 21 by tselling.

Hi am new but i have two questions, this firmware seem very interesting.
-currently i have 2.03 Repack Installed , do i need to update to 2.06 official before patch the 2.06 Dark ?
- I am French is this Firmware don't remove french ? , or i can re-install the french language ?

Hello, I just received the 701 and have been trying to update the firmware. I put the update 20110406_user_EN-2.0.6_b1_PB701SWUPDATE.zip on my sd card. Followed the directions, the progress bar goes about half way then the exclamation mark appears and it disappears and boots up. I looked at version and it says eclair, should I be able to tap on it and it tells me the updated version, nothing happens. I have tried downloading from this forum and from Pb website. Am I suppose to have another program loaded to unzip the file, I don't see anything listed in programs. Sure could use some help, have looked at all of the forum, but nothing seems to work.

Hi, no numbers, but I just got it to update. Don't know why it won't do it the other 15 times but got mad when it stopped half way thru on progression bar and pushed the buttons again, left and went to get a diet coke, came back and it was to the setup wizard. What a relief, now on to the other android things I should be able to do. Hopefully I can figure out that part. Thanks for your reply. Gloria
