I ave downloaded, flashed this version, along with the market flash.. and I am thrilled I have market working.. but now I am wondering how to install apps to the SD card?

In the release notes it states:
3. "The applications may be installed to the internal SD card"

How do we do this? when I install a app, I don't see an option where to install to? I tried looking in the FM but don't see anything there either.

I am an android newbie.. learning a lot from this forum, and I want to thank everyone for all you do and share. It's most appreciated!

Was this suppose read external SD card? Because we were already able to install to the internal SD card?

I asked the same question about the 2.05 release. I never got an answer, but I went ahead and installed it anyway. The apps now go to the external card, rather than the internal card. I think this is likely a translation issue in the notes.

"The applications may be installed to the internal SD card"

Here is my take on it:

pre 2.05 firmware, apps are installed to memory NOT internal microSD card. To install to internal microSD card, we use a2sd.

2.05 firmware and forward, apps are now installed in the EXT2 sections of the internal microSD card. Pocketbook is not talking about internal vs. external card. They are talking internal instead of memory.

FYI, here are the partitions on my microSD card after flashing 2.05:
pocket701 <- FAT32
346 MB Filesystem <- EXT2
684 MB Filesystem <- EXT2

Hope that helps.

Cheers

I also did some research and found that the 684MB partition is where the dictionaries and tts voices get installed and is mounted as /sd_data. The 346MB partition is where the user apps get installed and is mounted as /user_data. On 2.0.5 I even put the sd card in my linux server and was able to resize the 346MB partition to 700MB and recreate the Fat partition and all worked ok. Course 2.0.6 just reformatted and recreated the partitions... but 346MB is probably enough app room for most people.

Great to know that I can expand the 346MB partition if needed.

I have read in another thread, is safe to limit to max 500mb the sd-card internal ext2 partition, because over this limit the IQ is unstable. I don't know if is right...

I don't know for sure ... but that thread says an ext3 partition and the ones created by the IQ are ext2 partitions, and one of the ones created is already bigger than 500mb so I imagine its ok.

I wrote that based on my experience with the a2sd work around for firmware 2.03.

This is a totally different filesystem and setup in firmware 2.05 and 2.06 so partition size may not be an issue.

I don't understand how to update the firmware.

I've followed the steps of the online installation guide, but it doesn't work...
My PB701 is 2.0.3 version. I've nothing on my SD card, tranfered the zip file (2.0.6) on it, stopped the device and manually started it with the power button and '+ volume' button pushed.... The update screen appears, the progressbar fills a little (5 pixels maybe !) and... hop, it reboots automatically, the update has aborted !

What's the problem ? Someone can help me ?
Do i have to rename the zip file ? (I say it because it wasn't exactly the same name convention when 2.0.3 has been released)

Please.... I would like to try TTS...

Hi, I have had the same problem like you, I had the 2.0.3 repack firmware. I must have tried that 4, 5 times before it finally upgraded. I remember the progress bar stopped about half way, and it booted back to 2.0.3. It was depressing. The main thing is make sure the device is OFF completely. If you still have problem, I wonder if you can flash it with the original 2.0.2 firmware first, if that works, upgrade it with the latest firmware.
Another suggestion is, open the back cover, and disconnect the battery.

Good luck.

I would redownload the firmware and try again. Your downloaded firmware may have been corrupted during the download process.

Cheers

I've done it (and from another computer) but same result..... Another idea ?

Up : I feel that the sd card reader is not mounted when the device starts, and consequently it can't read the content of the sd card.... but I'm not sure and i don't know how to solve this...
