I´m very disappointed because there are noticable gaps between the display and the hull which catched dust after a very short time.
Four other members of a german forum confirmed these gaps on their devices too.
Are we suffering from a rare anomaly or is this the bitter truth?
There is a slightly wider margin on the right side of mine too. Wouldn't call it divice safety hazard though.

Where is this discussion you mentioned above? I was under the impression that non of the members of the German forum bought one or I would have read/posted there also.

Anyone else seeing false reading statistics on their reader?

Mine shows 5 books read, when it was only one and the reading time accordingly to the five (non)read books. If only I could read for six hours per day at the moment, I'd forgive my reader for lying to me.

lesen.net

I think i will return my Kobo Aura One. I demand a flawless device in exchange for my money.

I am really liking the Aura One so far, but I am super worried about carrying it around without any kind of protection. And I don't like that folding cover they have for it -- especially if it triggers page turns. I'd like something like the Swees case I have for my Voyage -- but they haven't made one yet, and even that might make the device too heavy.

So I just ordered this screen protector, maybe it will be enough. For $9 I figure it is worth a try -- unless it is going to screw up the screen with some kind of adhesive. I guess I'll find out.
You've just spent $9 you didn't need to spend. You don't need a screen protector. What you do need is a case for your A1.

Line spacing does work. But it depends on how the eBook was made. There are cases where it won't work because of how the CSS was coded. If your eBooks have no DRM or you are able to strip the DRM, then use Calibre's eBook editor to remove the line-height lines from the CSS.

My reader has the somewhat wider margin on the left. It's about 0.25mm wide, and can be seen when you look at the reader 'just so.'

The screen itself is perfect as far as I've been able to determine. I'm not going to exchange the reader. I'll just run the risk of getting one with the wider margin on the right instead of the left, or with an imperfect screen. Also, I'll probably buy a Gecko cover, or a similar one, that also covers the bezels, and I won't ever be seeing it ever again.

I like the bezels covered as it raises the cover's lid 2mm or so off the screen, which is just a bit of extra protection if the reader ever gets hit when in my work bag.

My thoughts exactely.

As for the cover, I won't buy a Kobo cover ever again. The one I bought for my Aura Arc 10 HD is torn and battered, all corners badly frayed and just barely not falling apart after 18 month. My Mulbess cover that I bought for my Aura 6" on the other hand looks like new and is 12 month older.

I bought an iPad Mini cover for the Aura One and ripped out the plastic shell which holds the Mini normally. The camera hole on the back is at the right height and I had to enlarge it just a tiny bit to get to the button of my Aura One. I mounted it with duct tape and am a happy camper now until Mulbess or someone else comes up with a cover I like.

The cover of my Paperwhite 1 is now close to four years old. It only has some scuffs on the edges, and crinkles in the spine, but these are completely to be expected, after being used for four years, and stuffed into a work bag, day in, day out. That was a €12 cover from eBay, which looks about the same as a Gecko cover.

I'm sure I'll get such a cover for the KA1; either the Gecko one, or one from eBay. I'll probably try the Gecko one, as I can return it easily if I don't like it; and it costs about half of what the Kobo cover costs. To be honest, even while I don't care too much about the price if I like something, €50 for a cover is just over the top.

I'm just using a cheap neoprene sleeve, and keeping the reader in the house as long as I don't have a hard book-style cover for it. It's not as if my KPW1 suddenly stopped working.

Why do you say that? The only big thing I'm worried about is scratching up the screen. And with a case I'm concerned it would start weighing too much. This seems ideal, at least maybe until Swees makes a case.

I decided to wait for a 3rd party cover, too. I only use the KA1 in my bedroom, anyway. Still, I want some temporary protection while it's stored on the headboard shelf, so I pulled out the old inverted-potholder sleeve I'd used a while back for some other device. (Not much customization required, tho I have a layer of foam padding inside to keep it from being too loose).

I have just one of these for now, 8 inch version:

Bought it for €9 when I got the KA1. I know I could have gotten it from eBay for €4-5 including shipping, from China, but I didn't want to wait 2-3 weeks before receiving it. Those few euro's don't matter anymore when taking the reader's price into consideration.

More than a year of using my Aura (not the HD, Not the H20, Not the One, Not the Edition 2) and I did not know about having a Wikipedia link.

Cool - Thanks!

There you can see that they just slide the reader into the cover from the left, and that there is NO retaining flap that closes off the left side.

I've had a Gecko cover for my KPW1, but I send it back because of this; when holding the reader with my right hand, it tended to slowly move a bit to the left, and then sit slanted in the cover. The cover I now have looks a lot like the ones from Gecko, but after you slide the reader into it, you put a flap over it on the left, and stick it under the reader. There it's fastened with velcro.
I'd have loved it if they'd have made it the same as the one for the H2O. It has a rigid back in which you "click" the reader. No chance at all for it to slip.

I will still get the one for the One though. It has house arrest as long as it doesn't have a cover

The Mulbess sleepcover does have the click-in back. That and it coming in real leather too is why I love it so much.
