That's most likely a problem with that particular book not allowing the change. Fairly rare, but there are some that won't allow changes unless you play with the publisher formatting.

I'm almost done with my first book on the A1 -- so far I like it a lot. One thing I miss from my Voyage is that the page turns were either faster (even though I'm already using KEPUBs) or they maybe had some kind of instant feedback where the screen flashes as it refreshed the page? The Kobo just pauses for a brief moment, which wouldn't be too bad except that it's enough time for me to worry that it didn't register the touch, which would happen sometimes with the Voyage.
Now maybe the Kobo is never going to miss touches, so this worry will eventually disappear, but given the fact that I just ordered this screen protector thing, it's probably going to make that more likely. I'm just wondering if any of the patches out there do any kind of instant feedback, like flashing the screen or anything instant to indicate that the touch was received? Thanks! Bob |

![]() There you can see that they just slide the reader into the cover from the left, and that there is NO retaining flap that closes off the left side. I've had a Gecko cover for my KPW1, but I send it back because of this; when holding the reader with my right hand, it tended to slowly move a bit to the left, and then sit slanted in the cover. The cover I now have looks a lot like the ones from Gecko, but after you slide the reader into it, you put a flap over it on the left, and stick it under the reader. There it's fastened with velcro. |

I received the official cover for A1 today. It's much less flappy and more solid and rigid than the photos would suggest. The sleep function though does appear not to react immediately, when you open the cover again it's as if some reactions did register on the screen in the first few seconds when it closed. It's better to press the back button first then close it, which is a pity.

I looked through the list of tweaks/hacks but am a little unsure whether to try to change anything on my A1. Here's what I would change if I could. Anyone know if it's possible to do this without introducing other problems? I'm using KEPUBS.
-- remove book name at top of screen and get an extra line of book text in exchange. -- at the bottom, instead of listing which page within which chapter I'm on (is that really of more interest than total progress through book?) I'd like the page within the book (like, "page 75 of 450") or a percentage through the book. Right now I have to tap the center screen and then wait for the clock to change to the percentage, which is annoying. I'm using KEPUBS and I guess using regular EPUBS maybe behaves differently? I don't want to give up a fast page turn though... Thanks Bob |

At the bottom of the screen it does say: *Note: some books will not be able to display chapter progress. Book progress will be displayed instead. I'm reading OD books pretty much exclusively, (ePubs) so don't know if there would be a difference for purchased books from other sources. |

If you do that however, you'll lose the reading stats (chapter progress/preview graph, chapter, next chapter and book Time To Read), and the page turns will indeed be slower. Then there is the full screen reading option, which works well after fixing it through CSS or a firmware patch, but it doesn't show anything: no top header, but also no bottom header. You'll need to call up the menu to see how far along in the book you are. |

@Katsunami Thanks -- which way would you recommend for trying the full-screen option? Is that something I can undo if I don't like it? Also -- with fullscreen enabled, is there anything that makes the progress immediately visible when you tap the screen? Or do you have to wait for the clock to change or also tap that stats icon?

Anyone else having this on dark backgrounds when looking at the reader from the top? https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=278534
