It might be a KitKat thing. On KitKat you have a Home option in settings to choose your launcher. It no longer works the old way.

Has anyone figured out how to fix this? Would I need to root it or something else?

The activity isn't there to begin with. At least I didn't see anything that could be it. You can set a web browser as a default though...

There's no root at the moment. If the bootloader was unlocked, it's be easy enough to flash a recovery since we have fastboot. But of course it is.

Look in the applications settings in Settings on my KF that where the home settings are.

Does anyone know if I buy a paid app from Amazon that isn't listed for my KF6 if I can copy the apk from my android tablet and side load on my KF6. Assuming it is in fact compatible, will it be accepted? Am thinking of Moon+ Pro.

I side loaded the apk for Moon+ Pro (which I bought in the Play Store) to my Fire 6. It works great, as long as wifi is off. Can't be used when wifi is on. I don't know if that'll be different using the apk from the Amazon store.

Hmm. I tried to side load the one I bought off the Play Store and it wouldn't work. I wonder if WiFi on had something to do with it. What happens when WiFi is on?

Shame that we have to pay for these twice.

Yes any Amazon store app sideloaded will work if it's all on the same account. DRM is account specific.

I buy all my Amazon apps with free coins for all the promos so I don't see it as paying twice.

When wifi is on, and I start the app, I get a pop up message that says a new update is available in the Play Store, click here to get it. When I click cancel, the app closes.

I plan to get an HD 6 next Saturday at Best Buy. That's when their holiday return policy kicks in. Then if it goes on sale on Black Friday, I'll return it and get the one on sale. That way, I'll have one before Christmas - sale or no sale.

Price matching is out, because Best Buy excludes Black Friday sales (Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday) and that's when it most likely would go on sale.

No Google Apps are per account like Amazon apps but yes we should be able share Amazon apps on Devices with Family Profiles no problems there.
