I'm now going my various watch lists to decide what to watch tomorrow. I want to watch a horror movie and I'm leaning towards Antlers. Or maybe the next in the Candyman series. Or both. |

I'm through 8 seasons of Vera now and liking it more and more. The main characters could be more interesting - say like Line of Duty - but the episodes are well written with enough complexity to be interesting without being confusing. And Blethyn has no peer when it comes to the wry chuckle.

Last night I watched Antlers, which I thought was okay, I'm not a huge fan of creature features. I would have like more lore about the Wendigo.
Then I watched The Uninvited from 1944. Which I enjoy, though it always takes me a bit to get into classic movies. The pacing was so much different than current movies. But it was a nice change of pace from what I've been watching lately. Tonight I was in the mood for something over the top. So I watched both National Treasure films whilst cross stitching. The first one I had seen in the cinema when it was released, the second one I hadn't seen before. Are they good movies? Not particularly. Are they fun and entertaining? Yep. Tomorrow I might start with Wayward Pines. I read the books, I like the first book in the series and liked it, the other book I liked less. I can't remember if I watched any episodes or not. Let's see if it hits the spot. I'm in just one of those moods where I want to watch TV but I don't know what I want to watch. |

Still hitting up Father Brown more than I probably should. Most of the fedoras suddenly went from brims being turned down in front and up in the back, to being both turned down between seasons 8 and 9. Interesting. I miss seeing the occasional trilby from the earlier seasons. I often wonder if they got to choose their own hats?
The season 8 finale was one of my favorite episodes to date. EDIT: My mistake. The back brim of Inspector Mallory's fedora seems to change from up to down from scene to scene. Last edited by DiapDealer; 07-24-2022 at 09:07 PM. |

Why is a show based on a character (Sister Boniface) from a show set in the early '50s (Father Brown) set in the early '60s? Very puzzling.

I don't recall any "Luck Be a Lady Tonight" episodes later on (but there may or may not be a bit of clergy baccarat). ![]() |

This type of thing seems to happen a lot with “period” shows. They pride themselves on the clothing and set design but get a lot of the basics wrong, and it’s because they don’t know, don’t care, or have a contempt for their audience, who they assume are too stupid to know. I suspect a mix of all three. And not only are there people at the BBC who know better, I guarantee that in the course of the show they’ve been corrected and they really don’t care/think the audience is too stupid to know better. ![]() |

ALTHOUGH, I have to add--if a commoner (man) marries a titled woman, it's not like HE gets renamed with something possessive, though, is it?

I believe I've heard "Lady Montague" a couple of times throughout. But yes.... it's been "Lady Felicia" for the vast majority.
