Nice question. But I'm inclined to think that most windows are really mirrors, and most mirrors are really windows.
I'm reminded of a semi-mythical conversation between John Lennon and Paul McCartney about 'Hey Jude'. As everyone knows, the song is (apparently?) based on Paul's advice to the young Julian Lennon to accept John's new love, Yoko Ono. John: 'Hey! This song is about me!' Paul: 'No, it's about me...' Window or mirror? |

Good point. I'd say I like books with reflecting windows the best (think a shop's window where you can see inside the shop, but can also see a faint reflection of yourself).

Better yet, a two-way mirror - changes what you can see depending on where there is light.

Both? It really depends on the book. I wouldn't say the books I read mirror my experiences, but they do make me think about what kind of person I am; about my good and bad qualities. Others are a gateway into another world - a daydream. Sometimes one book can provide both experiences for me at the same time. I don't know if that makes sense, but that's how it is for me.
