Since I have Kindle hardware I always read MOBIs, though through the miracle of Calibre they don't always start out that way. Calibre has opened up whole new frontiers of eBook acquisition, like I didn't already have years of backlog from Amazon alone.

I refuse to be restricted to any one site to purchase my books. I have a Nook Color and do buy from B&N, but I also buy from Amazon, Baen and other sites. If they do not offer the book in epub I will convert it to epub. By the logic of DRM "I should have to also own a Kindle reader if I want to read a book purchased from Amazon".

Regardless of what format a book was originally purchased in, I convert everything to both .epub and .mobi for long-term storage (thanks to Calibre and Apprentice Alf). I usually read in .epub in Aldiko, and of course .mobi on my Kindle 3.

The last book I read (and the 300 before it) was mobi, but it started out as epub.

I'm listening to an audiobook (The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency), so the poll sucks.

DjVu - a wonderful and underrated format for books, via page images. See Internet Archive for examples.

ePub is very much my preferred format. The only time I read on my Kindle 3 is to check out an ebook I've designed, and even then I very rarely read the ebook right through.

I read mostly mobi, but I have bought a few epub and converted a couple times. I've noticed lately that Amazon has been cheaper or at least the same as Kobo (even after the coupon).

I answered epub, but it could just as easily have been pdf or djvu. I have a lot of each.
