You're a genius. I was able to find my order.
Mine is already staying at the local airport and the expected delivery date is 24th of December before 12PM. I can't wait!

Thanks again for finding this out

You can read non-DRM'd Mobi books using FBReader under Linux.

For me, mobigen works fine under Wine, and Tommy's Mobiperl is quickly catching up (new releases come out faster than I can try them :-)

I have a deep distrust of DRM and closed-source software, and remaining under Linux makes me a lot happier.

Talking Whats Your order ID?

I just order a few things off Bookeen and was just wondering what other people's order ID's were. Mines 8700 range.

Happy Holidays,

Not good news in my case, unfortunately. No joy from my order number, neither in the above-suggested format nor in any other feasible permutation that I could think of. So, I tried contacting Fedex by phone but, whether due to the time of afternoon or something else, all I could get was an automated system that insisted on having a waybill number (despite their website's claim that support was available 24 hours a day).

I'll probably try again tomorrow, but I'm highly sceptical of having any better luck then. Guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed and hope that Fedex shows up on Monday. It would be nice to know whether someone needs to stay home all day, though, since we've got a ton of last-minute things to take care of. It would be worth it, if I knew that my Cybook was really going to show up.

Just to let people know: "XXXX - CYBOOK" didn't work for me on the FedEx website but "XXXX CYBOOK" did (without the hyphen). My order (79XX) is due to be delivered in Columbus, OH USA on Dec. 24.

Thank you Anthius. This seemed to work in my case as well. Note that I didn't receive an email from FedEx either.
My order id is a bit over 8000, but they managed to ship it on Friday and now it is in customs. It's estimated to arrive after Xmas, but still hoping for the opposite.
The guys at Bookeen must have been working round the clock since the last shipment arrived.

A couple more things to try

Here are a couple of possibilitites for you to try:

Some people are saying that "XXXX CYBOOK" worked for them, instead of the "XXXX - CYBOOK" that worked for me and some others. This reference is supplied to FedEx by Bookeen - I guess they weren't consistent in the formatting they used.

On FedEx phone support, they never tell you that you can get to talk to an agent by pressing "0" (zero) at any time, except when the system is expecting another number (like a waybill). Give this a try.

Good luck

Mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow! I haven't gotten any emails and I tried Fed-ex with the dash and it showed nothing. Without the dash and there was the information!

Thanks a lot

When I bought the cybook (Dec 13th), the dates on the website to be shipped were the 18th to the 21st, and even though their communication is completely lacking, they did in fact ship on the 21st.

The news only gets worse. I tried the reference without spaces and had no luck, so I tried calling Fedex again. Thanks to your tip, I was actually able to talk to a real, live person. Unfortunately, her news was anything but good.

There is nothing for me from Bookeen in the system.

Considering that I have a 749X number and people with considerably higher numbers have been able to confirm their shipments are in Fedex's systems, I am definitely not a happy Bookeen customer.

I've sent off an email reply to Bookeen's previous email that had told me that my order would ship Thursday, pointing out that I not only have not received the promised tracking number email but that a personal call to Fedex has confirmed that my delivery is not in their system. I've requested an immediate update on my order status.

I'm not holding my breath for either the update or my Cybook delivery.

Bookeen has till the end of the week. At that point, if I don't have my Cybook in hand or one heck of a good reason why it isn't, I'll be cancelling my order and ordering a Sony Reader. If buying the darn thing from Bookeen is this frustrating and their order department is this disorganized, I shudder to think what a warranty claim would be like.

I'm very sorry to hear that you're having problems, and I know that it must be very disappointing and upsetting for you, especially at Christmas.

In fairness to Bookeen, though, it's probably not fair to judge the performance of the company by what's going on in clearing the initial order backlog, which is what's going on right now. I'm sure that once a steady stream of product is arriving and orders are going out, they'll have more time to answer e-mails, and so on.

I know it's no comfort to you, but you can see from the other messages on this forum that your experience is not typical, and that the overwhelming majority of people are receiving their machines pretty much when Bookeen said they would.

Please do stick with it and give Bookeen a chance to sort things out for you. I promise you it is worth waiting for. Speaking as a former Sony owner, I find the Gen3 to be much better than the Sony.

I'm so happy!!
Fed-Ex just delivered my Cybook. Unboxing it right now.

It's so thin and light. just what I expected.

They didn't ship the cover though, I guess I'll have to wait till January.

BTW: Let me wish everybody at MobileRead a merry Christmas!

(Now if you all excuse me I have to. . . . eh... you know, )

Mine arrived just now!

I do have the cover, in my shipment the battery is missing.

Now counting down those 3 hours of charging.

I've just received my Cybook right now.
It came with the brown cover, like I ordered.

The plastic does feel cheap. It means that either they're making big profit margins or that most of the money was invested into the screen. I'm happy that I've gotten a leather cover for it.

The interface seems a bit lacking in responsiveness, although I havn't played with it for more than a few minutes. It's charging now. I'm looking forward to putting some books on it.
