Calibre doesn't close immediately

That is just a clue. Not a cause.
I have customized my Toolbars extensively (Preferences: Toolbars and Menus). If a glitch -> reset happens, I notice real fast.

It did happen to me once. My computer crashed for reasons unknown, and when I started it again and opened calibre, all my custom settings were gone (libraries were intact). Fortunately I had a backup, or I would have been completely lost, as I probably have hundreds of custom settings with all the plugins included. And yes, I noticed immediately, of course.

If you have added a plugin, changed a toolbar or menu, changed a device preference etc, etc you have customised calibre.

But that's not germane.

Whilst it has never happened to me, other users have occasionally reported that Preference settings have been changed after an update.

Can you post a screen shot of Preferences->Look and feel->Main Window settings?

But most likely it's the inadvertent use of the Enable system tray icon Accelerator key (Alt+y), or Tab into the field and tap space.

The only thing I've done with Calibre for a couple of years has been updating it and the couple of plugins that always update, KFX I think they are.
Other than that I never go into the menus as I don't understand most of them.
All I know is it used to show the icon in the tray when the program was open, and when I closed the program using the X it closed and the icon disappeared .
Sine the last update it does not. When I click the X the icon stays there and the program minimises but does not close. The icon remains in the tray and if I want it to close I have to right click the icon and choose exit. That's new, and nothing at all to do with plugins, or customisation as nothing else has changed on my system.

As Kovad said I can stop the icon showing in the tray, and that means when I click the X the program just closes as it should. But while it is running the icon does not show in the tray, and I like running programs to show in the tray, so I know what's still open.

So there has been a change. And nothing to do with me or what I have/haven't done. I guess I'll just have to live with it, it's not the worst problem in the world by any means.
