Page-scanned PDFs can be (and often are) a heck of a lot bigger than 10MB. I have numerous page-scanned Eguptology PDFs that are over 100MB, and a not insignificant number that are 200MB or more. On my 128GB iPad I currently have around 40GB of PDFs.
