Is it worth upgrading from H2O to Aura one?
I like big screen in general and I have Kobo H2O(had Aura HD before). pretty very excited for aura one. But I am wondering it is worth it upgrading? 7.9 vs 6.8 and pay extra 100 dollars(assume I can sell H20)
what's you guys' opinion |

You could try selling the one you have first. & Nobody knows if the up grade is worth it except you.

The screen size is nice, but I have an 8" tablet. So it would be redundant for me to buy an 8" reader that I wouldn't take out of the house. P.S. If Kindle releases a waterproof lighted 300 ppi 6" device before Kobo, I'll buy that one instead. Even though I prefer Kobo for book organization (with Calibre). (As long as it's not the Oasis). If you search on Amazon for Waterfi you'll find a 6" Paperwhite that's waterproof and costs a little less than a comparable Paperwhite without waterproofing. I've never actually seen one but I've seen reviews and tests done on them and read descriptions of their process and it sounds pretty good.
They don't seal the Paperwhite. They disassemble it and coat all the inner parts with something that prevents water from touching them and then they re-assemble them. Because of that process the Amazon warranty is voided but Waterfi has their own 1 year warranty that they claim is the same as Amazons. I haven't read of anyone using that warranty so I don't know how true it is. They've been selling these since the original Paperwhite and I've never heard anything bad about them but, other than reviews, I've never heard much of anything about them at all. I don't think I know enough about them to recommend them but if I wanted a waterproof one I don't think I'd be nervous about buying one myself. Barry |

Don't you folks know these devises are NOT Water Proof! "Just" Kobo Aura H2O 6.8-Inch Comfort Light, "Water Resistant" E-Reader
You can get that with a Ziplock Bag! Last edited by Barbara1955; 08-31-2016 at 03:14 PM. |

I have an H20, and I'd get an Aura One in a heartbeat (and keep both) if the Aura One had expandable storage. The lack of an sd card slot is a dealbreaker for me.

Out of curiosity how much storage would you need? They say 8GB is good for 6000 Ebooks. Even if it was 2/3 of that 4000 books is a extremely large library.

I was thinking the same... Unless you plan to fill it with comics (which is something I will most definitely will try!)

The problem with only 8GB is that you can not carry references on demand. Also graphics heavy PDFs can be 10MB and more so would only get <1000 books.
Wikipedia Text only was around 20GB last I checked and that was 2 years ago. So with 8 GB goodbye dreams of your own Hello Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy.. |
