Troubleshooting PW2 and battery - Page 2

BookCat--That's what I'd do. Try putting the books on one or two at a time and check to see if they index properly. Who knows? Maybe everything will work great. If it's a non-Amazon side loaded book that seems to be causing the problem, I'd probably try to re-convert it in Calibre. If it's an Amazon book, you could try to re-download it or contact Amazon to let them know about the problem.

Thanks to all you folks! I've also got a new PW2 and thought the battery might be running down faster than it should, but was going to wait and see for a few days. After reading this thread, I did the search described above, and sure enough, there was a book still trying to index. Lucky for me, it wasn't one that I sideloaded. I had the Kindle remove it from the device, then re-downloaded, and presto - no more indexing. (If anyone is curious, it was the Delphi Complete Works of Dickens - enough to choke any reader

)

Anyway, with luck, condition corrected. Another problem solved by the good folks on this board.

All my books, even the Amazon ones, are sideloaded because I don't have wifi. I download the Amazon books to my pc then put them onto the reader's 'my documents' file. These are still on my computer, so I assume I can just reload them onto the reader?

I'll try this later today.

I returned to the Kindle one of the books which didn't appear to be causing problems before. That was about 20 minutes ago and it's still indexing. I have the PW plugged into the wall charger. How long should it take to index one normal length book (it's a Wodehouse novel from Gutenberg)?

A few seconds at least, a couple of minutes at most. Sounds like the file is corrupt. Try downloading a fresh copy.

It's been about 2 hours and the book is still trying to index. I'll try downloading another copy from Gutenberg and put that on the reader to see if that works. Thanks.

If it fails to index again, try a restart. That usually works for me when I run into a book that's stuck indexing.

UPDATE: the suggestions: to find out if the reader was indexing books and to sort this out, have worked! The battery is now behaving as I would expect it to.

Thought I'd mention this incase anyone else has the same problem and sees this thread.
