need replacement for PW2
Love just about everything about it, weight, size, screen clarity - except for the last update, which I didn't do. However, I'm getting ready to camp for 3 months and just tried to load my favorite ebooks on it - only 220 fiction ebooks and it couldn't take it - ran out of memory.
So, I need a 6" something that has a sd card, eink for outside reading, internal light for night reading, a good ppi and folders or collections that can have subcollections. I looked at the Kobo Glo, but it seems to have a lot of negative press and only has shelves. Any help would be most appreciated. |

You have to strip the DRM to switch to most anything. I suggest http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007TMXJK0 Buy a Light or 2 at Dollar Tree $1 each!

Appreciate your suggestion Katie, However, thanks to Alf - drm is not a problem. The problem is lack of storage for my books, so no Kindle will work as they don't have enough internal, nor do they have an sd card. |

Thanks, my mistake - I'll take another look at it. And, it just occurs to me, I have an old Kindle Keyboard put away - I think it has maybe 4 gig. I wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't answered - so thanks again.

Thanks, yours is lovely too. Mine is your dog's distant cousin - a blue merle Cardigan Welsh Corgi. I like the fluffys, but it is hard enough to get a blue merle - I would have waited forever for a blue merle fluffy.
I'm currently charging my K3, can't wait to see how all my books fit - then off to the dollar store for a light! |

I have a kobo glo and it has performed very well. I have never has issues with it. I see lots of people reporting screen issues with the new Aura otherwise I would have considered the upgrade just because it is Christmas. :-) What I like about the firmware updates is that you can revert to whichever firmware you like best then turn off wifi to prevent the firmware from changing. I also love the fact that I can access my books via wifi with dropbox. I just drag and dropmy book into dropbox and I can get it quickly on my glo...no wires. Anyway..I really like mine and recommend it.

I have a Kobo Aura which I love, I have a 16GB SD card in it which works perfectly. Books on the SD card are treated the same as books on the main device.
Shelves are Collections btw, no difference at all to the Paperwhite. No Sub collections though |

The way round it is to save the word doc as a web page, filtered, then import that into calibre to convert into a mobi file. The resulting mobi is much smaller in size than importing the native word doc and converting that into a mobi. |

Yeah, I know others are getting lots more books on theirs. Mine aren't so large - just fiction - I can't figure out what the problem is, but I deleted the 220 books and got 1000 mb back. I'm wondering if all the different formats are side loaded from Calibre. Right now I'm deleting everything that is not mobi or epub from the library, then I'll try resending just the mobi. Or, my PW2 has a problem with it's memory!

A typical fiction ebook should be no more than a few hundred kb in size. Try loading them from Calibre, then looking at the "documents" folder on the mounted Kindle drive with Windows Explorer and seeing what's using all the space.

I always load from Calibre now - even purchased Amazon books as I don't want that new anti-collections update to load. Good idea about looking to see the folder, hadn't thought of that - will do.
