Aren't sideloaded books still available, or did B&N wipe those too? Hmmm, if B&N is going to peridically wipe the NCs connected to WiFi then methinks they will have a mass revolt on their hands.

Hey maybe the NCs are revolting against that terrible 1.2! Perhaps they are puking it out of their system. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Oh well, as far as I'm concerned the WiFi is rather useless on the NC anyway, so it is probably better to leave it off to keep B&N from piddling with or on your NC.

I take it this is effecting just some people, or will it crop up if you try to activate wi-fi and contact B&N.

Nothing is amiss with my NC but I have turned off wi-fi just in case, although if the servers are down the Nook has nothing to call home to

From what I've read it only seems to be effecting NCs that had WiFi turned on. WiFi on mine was off as I rarely use it so my NC is okay. I'm not sure if it only applies to NCs with 1.2 or all NCs. B&N as usual is being silent--and stupid.

I usually keep my Wi-Fi on. I'm glad that I just happened to have my NC powered off today. I would not want to recreate all of my shelves again!

It seems like a lot of people lost photos, contact lists, wallpapers, data, etc. Basically anything that gets toasted during a full reset got toasted in many cases.

Barnes and Noble, you got some 'splaining to do... (For those old enough to get that reference. Hint: Ricky Ricardo.)

Okay, it makes sense to start backing up as much data as possible because if this mess happened once it can happen again. I think B&N has a very inexperienced development staff, so hang on for what might be a very bumpy ride! And keep your finger off of that damn WiFi button.

Yeah I guess my last post was a little premature, with mine, its going past the wifi set up but still wont let me register saying that they are having trouble setting up my NC and I need to call in if the error persists. I called because I wasn't sure if it was me having problem or if it was still the same issue and they said its still the same problem and that it could still be a while before anything changes. Possibly not being fixed until some time tomorrow.

It sucks but at least the guy was full of apologies.

This is horrible, but just reinforces how badly the shelves needs to be incorporated into the cloud, or AT LEAST backup-able onto the Nook4PC program. What a ridiculous mess!

Thank god I've had wi-fi off to avoid the 1.2 update.

I dunno about anyone else, but when I checked my NC this morning, not only had it recovered all of my purchased magazines... but it had thrown in a few issues prior to the beginning of my subscriptions.

I don't know if this means I have extra magazines... or if my subscriptions will end 2 months early...

I had several extra magazines this morning, too! I figured I'd just fallen into a coma and missed the last three months, so I didn't check their dates to see if they were earlier versions. How odd.
