They're saying the river isn't going to get to 5.5 now, they've revised to 5.2 metres.

The country's hobby is trying to make us move back to wherever we came from.

Which is going back a fair while for some of us. It's really bad but extreme weather is (somewhat) expected. Worried about everyone up there, though.

Hey folks - hopefully things are looking up today, with the peak river levels forecast down a bit. Good luck to all involved!

Yes, the waters are going down... I went for a drive earlier, just to see if I could get to work tomorrow... The waters at Goodna are down a great deal, but I couldn't get close at all, as the road was closed for clean-up.

4WDs were going through the road I take to work, so that should be OK for me in the morning in my (very) little Hyundai Getz.

I then went to the top of the hill to get a few things at Woolies... I was amazed at all the people there, and hardly anything on the shelves... No bread, no meat, no conserves or packet soups...

Just unbelievable..

Yes, and in the Alps it's raining at 2500m above sea level...

I read a piece in the newspaper today, and I wondered if the Australians ever panic? I must say I have respect on the reactions on the people who were interviewed!

Hya Lene: I have a couple of friends in Queensland (one in Brisbane and one in the styx). I emailed both to ask if they were OK. Although these chaps usually reply immediately, I've heard from neither. Are the floods having an effect on internet services or is there cause for concern? Stay safe, Lene. Very best wishes. Neil

Hi Neil

I don't think you should worry... The power is cut in a lot of places, and it may be another couple of days for it to be reconnected... They have cut it on purpose in places, where the supply station is under water, that includes Brisbane CBD..

A friend of mine has told me that both Vodafone and Telstra are down.

Her son's home went under, and he and his family are staying with friends.

Cheers
