In calibre 3.99.7 this feature works for images in <img> tags but not for images between <svg> tags, unless it's the cover image.

Is this your experience, too?

That is a limitation of the way docking works in Qt, IIRC you can have only a single non-tabbed widget per docking area.

Right click on the virtual library tabs behaves normally - i.e. the menu pops on button up

On my system (linux) right click and hold pops up context menus everywhere, including virtual libraries, the book list the book details panel, etc. In anycase, I am 100% sure calibe has no code to control this, it comes from Qt.

I'm sure BetterRed will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the point he was making is that (in Windows at least) in 3.48 a short right-click on a tab pops up its context menu everywhere (virtual library tabs and Editor code view tabs). Whereas in 3.99 a short right-click works the same as in 3.48 for virtual library tabs but not the same for Editor code view tabs where only a long right-click will bring up the context menu.

In other words, in 3.99.x, why do short right-clicks behave differently in virtual library tabs than they do in Editor code view tabs?

Speaking for myself I can live with it now I know what's what, but I wouldn't rule out the same question being raised when calibre 4 rolls out.

My prior epub2pdf conversions in 3.47 worked good except for sometimes cutting images horizontally at bottom of page, then showing full image again at top of next page. I wanted to test if 3.99 had fixed this and ran a epub2pdf conversion on the unaltered file. It failed. I tried calibre's self-correcting feature, but it failed again. Enclosing attachments. @rjwse nevermind I found the bug it will be fixed in the next beta, in the mentime if you want to test things, just turn offthe option to add a ToC to the PDF and the rest of it should work.

I don't perceive any difference between calibre 3.47.1 and 3.99 on Windows 10.

When I press (down event) and hold the right button on an editor tab I get its "Close tab, Close other tabs" menu - viz:



When the button is released (up event) the selected action, if any, will be taken. The problem is that a slight movement of the mouse will select Close tab, as you see in the screen shot and when the button is released, et voila the tab is closed.

Elsewhere, when I press (down event) and hold the right button nothing happens until I release the button (up event), and when I do the menu pops and stays there, in all programs, e.g. firefox:



or calibre Virtual Library tabs:



It waits for a left click on an item before any doing any action. I regard this as normal right click behaviour on Windows.

My perception is that there is no difference between the right click behaviour on the editor's tabs in versions 3.47.1 and 3.99.7 - they are equally 'wrong'.

Sigil is exactly the same in the same place - the right click behaviour on its CV tabs is the same as the calibre editor, but elsewhere it conforms to what I call normal behaviour - i.e. on button up, the menu is popped, and it stays there waiting for a left button click (or keyboard events) or the input focus to shift elsewhere.
