Nope. One died because I updated the firmware - I kid you not! The other died because I picked it up and turned it on, totally breaking the display - yet again I kid you not! But the FIRST one died because I dropped it (this was the evaluation unit and they had not gotten the softcover cases) onto carpet.

Eowyn, there's no necessity to name *any* other company here. This is the Cybook/Bookeen thread.

I don't mind Sony's, Amazon's or any other E-Ink reader company's customer support. I'm just interested in Bookeen finally communicating with us customers (writing down a feature list in a blog entry - as announced -, can't be THAT difficult or time-consuming, honestly!).
And simply delivering a firmware update promised quite some time ago.

I would buy another reading device from Bookeen, but just after checking ALL features and double-checking them again to be sure they are actually present AND working. And I'd wait for the first reviews.

As for the fragility of the screen - after hearing all the horrendous stories I've become paranoid. I never sit down unless I check the spot where I'm gonna sit(no matter where I am). I handle my C. as if it was a WW2 grenade. I never put anything on top. I put it where I can see it so I don't sit on it accidentally. They really need to start makin em sturdier, coz this is not healthy.
That reminds me that I should put some padding on the floors.

Yeah, i'm still waiting to see where bookeen acctually promised folder support. As far as i can tell, they haven't promised anything.

Well, hello friendly people!
i think ther is no doubt about folder in next firmware update: this functionnality is in for the one bought from weltbild. Soooo two possibilities:
- wether it is ok and we got it,
- wether bookeen is having big problem with folder support and then could a friendly german speaker go to the german forum part of mobileread to ask them to take picture, explain what they do have and if it is better than before?

But will this folder support be in a version of the firmware that still supports DRMed Mobipocket or will it just be in the ePub firmware? Nobody knows this and Bookeen won't say.

Nope, if the other reader are a referance, the "no mobi drm with epub drm" still holds.
Best case senario is epub drm with prc no drm, and an other firmware with mobi drm, and epub no drm.

The Kindle DX demonstrates that it is possible to licence Adobe Digital Editions but not use its DRM capability. However, we don't know if Amazon had to negotiate a special deal, or if they have a standard licence from Adobe. If this is allowed by the standard licence, Bookeen could provide DRMed MOBI and DRM-free PDF/ePub via Adobe Digital Editions.

I doubt that it is similarly possible, under its licence, to use MobiPocket's Reader DRM-free with DRMed ePubs.
