There's a few patches not working for me on a Glo HD, and with all the changes and renames, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but haven't been able to figure out where the problem is.
I can't seem to change the page number font back to Georgia as I had it under 4.12.12111 (the firmware I've updated from). I've changed books, flipped over a chapter marker to trigger refresh, shut down and back on, but page numbers are still in Avenir font. The advanced font control also is not working at all on any font, not even Kobo's default fonts. The bottom menu doesn't seem to get reduced in size (assuming I'm using the correct patch), it's a full inch in height. These are the patches I've enabled, maybe I have 2 that shouldn't be used together, or missed something I do need to add for the above to work: Spoiler:
And in nickel.yaml, under "Custom new header/footer font:" I changed line 332 to read: Spoiler:
What am I doing wrong or missing? |

I misunderstood you at the beginning.
The font changes, but not immediately, you must first open any book. And in it to highlight any word. Last edited by Semwize; 01-11-2020 at 03:28 PM. |

If possible, I would like to have Back to Home patched to My Books if that's possible (for both ePub and KePub). I can go home from My Books if I want. Thanks.

This is the spacing for the one line I changed, it's actually 8 spaces at the beginning. I had also tried it to line up with Replacements at 6 spaces, and that kicked out an error in the log file. The batch file ran correctly and completed with how it was above, so I'm assuming the spacing is correct, right?

Ripplinger, you have no mistakes.
And the font has not changed? Try changing the font in the open book. ------------------------- Yes you are right. Included this patch: only the left side of the footer (the name of the book) changes, the page number does NOT change. This has already been discussed in the next topic, my fault that I forgot, sorry. Last edited by Semwize; 01-11-2020 at 03:58 PM. |

Thanks for that info, I missed that thread when digging through for the changes in the last few firmwares. The odd thing is that I accidentally left the full bottom info with book title on one of my attempts to fix it, and it also didn't change the font then either.
I think I'll go back to the older firmware I had. I've completely lost all advanced font controls, and I really dislike that 1" bottom menu when you tap, makes the older firmware more usable for me. Although I did really like getting rid of most of the garbage in the top left menu that I don't ever use, the Help link there is pretty useless as well and should have a way to get rid of it. |

The title font will change exactly, but the page number is not.
If you don't like the font Avenir - just delete it, then Georgia will be everywhere. And in the page number. |

The advanced font patch had to be re-written by geek1011. It's new name is 'Enable advanced settings for all fonts'. It's still in libnickel.so.1.0.0.yaml and it's working OK.

Enable advanced settings for all fonts: yes The only other thing I can think of is that I have the MiniClock mod installed on the reader. Could that be causing some of the issues? It's something I wouldn't be willing to give up though even if it did, I love having the clock and battery level always visible. |

@Ripplinger: Nope, as explained in details elsewhere, MiniClock has zero interaction with Nickel.
I'd double-check the patching output/logs to check what *actually* ends up being patched in (in case there's a case issue somewhere), because it's definitely working for me (both with ttf & otf fonts. And with MiniClock ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 01-11-2020 at 06:04 PM. |

I saw that you indicated it on your list. This patch works fine for me, including on Glo HD.
There really is a problem with the page number. Quote:

Having said that I've just opened a test standard epub and it looks like you may be right. Are you reading epub only? It will need geek1011 to look at this. Can someone else check whether font bolding works in standard epubs before I report it at GitHub. |

The only other issue then, should the bottom menu that comes up when you click anywhere in the page, should that really a full inch in height even with the above patches enabled? |
