why not - i think i've done that once or twice in the past ... gives you the best of both worlds - toast with butter on it and toast without - all on the same piece .... hence toast needs to be cool before butter ....

Used to drive my mom nuts. Now, when ever I do it.........I still think of her "you're wasting bread!!!".

take the toast and let it cool slightly, butter it and then peal off the layer of the toasted bread from the main part of the slice ....

Go toast a piece of bread, butter while its still warm.

Now, tear of just some of the crust.

Start peeling back the upper layer of buttered bread.

if your toast falls off the table - which side will land on the floor first - the buttered side or the none buttered side ....

for the perfect answer butter both sides .....

that depends on how much fat there is in the butter and whether there is a cat in the kitchen who noticed it fall whilst you were not there ....
