Can I ask how you made the pen? are there components available or do you take an existing one apart? Perhaps you could buy your wife some welding gear for her birthday and then make her a nice stand for the kindle.

I just ordered that same leather case. I couldn't pass up that price. Plus it's more my style than those other expensive fancy leather cases.

I almost decided for the brown one...

Your advice ?
I ordered the 2nd one just this weekend and now I'm only waiting for delivery. I liked the look of it, it offered decent protection and the price was right. If you're in no hurry then I'll write back to say what I think when it arrives.
My case arrived a day or so ago and I must admit it's rather nice. The padded leather feels lovely in the hand, it folds up quite slim - I found the bare K2 too slim and awkward to hold by itself - now it's just right. It seems very protective with a strong front cover over the lid and a slight edge all around the kindle to protect it in falls. I still have full access to all the controls. The cost was great at £14 and the look and feel was even better than I'd hoped - I'm quite pleased

Thanks for the review mbk !
In the meantime I ordered it too. And I even ordered a M-edge Latitude using the promotion blackcat suggested.
I'm in full Kindle shopping frenzy

So, mine arrived too and it's really nice and classy
Just two doubts:

1. The description said it is real leather (cow), but it smells strangely. What do you think ? Is it really leather or artificial one ?

2. The lid is kept closed by 2 magnets on the right upper and lower corners. It's very nice, but could the magnetic fields damage the eInk screen ?

the funny smell was an issue in some covers a couple of years ago. sometimes leather isn't tanned as equally as other leather. put your case outside in the sun for a few days and it should go away. or return it and specifically mention the smell. remember these items are being made in third world countries. people are checking stitching not the smell. probably don't notice the smell anymore as it is.

the magnets are just fine

Mine also has a slight, but not unpleasant, smell. I think these days we're so used to leather smelling of absolutely nothing that we're a bit shocked when it actually smells of leather It actually reminds me of the saddle room in a horse riding stable I used to go to. I forgot to mention the magnetic catch but it works well and doesn't appear to affect the screen in any way. In fact I think most of the cases out there have magnetic catches.

Considering the price I think it's a beautiful case though. Perhaps the only small improvement I'd add would be to have a small hole to attach a lanyard to.
