My primary cover is the Noreve Sandy Vintage. I've used it for about a year now; it's traveled all over the US and over to Ireland, and it's held up beautifully under some pretty heavy use. Pics taken a few weeks ago are shown in a thread on Kindleboards.com: Noreve Sandy Vintage for the K2

The Oberons are beautiful--I have one of their Celtic Knot journals as well--but I found quickly that function was far more important than beauty when it comes to Kindle covers, and between the excessive weight, thickness, and my dislike of their corner-based retention system, the Oberon just wasn't as functional as the Noreve. Also, the leather on the Oberon began to show wear almost immediately, with permanent crease marks appearing at the spine and dye wearing off in the same area; there's been no such issue with the Noreve.

At the moment though, I'm rediscovering using the Kindle as is. It's just so darn thin and light that it almost seems a shame to have a cover on it at all. So I've been carrying it around in a semi rigid sleeve that's no longer made, and reading it with no cover at all. That sleeve is the one shown in my avatar.

I do have a SquareTrade warranty on it which covers accidental damage, so I tend to worry about it less than I would otherwise--not sure if that warranty is available in the UK, but if it or something similar is, I highly recommend getting one. A regular extended warranty (including Amazon's) generally doesn't cover dropping the unit or accidentally sitting on it, but this one will.

My husband has an M-Edge cover for his iPad and loves it. The quality seems excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to use one if all other features fit your needs, along with your budget.

I've had my first Oberon for almost a year. it goes with me everywhere, in my purse, in a backpack, in a computer bag... I haven't had any dye issues, and it's even been in the rain and the snow! there's very little wear, only one place where my hand is constantly when it is in use, and that would be an expected wear spot. it is a little bulkier than the m-edge, but certainly much smaller than a book. so far I have a K-1 and 2 cover, a journal and a portfolio and absolutely NO complaints!

Getting a KlearKase when it gets released later this week. M-Edge is too $$$ and heavy for me.

Thanks for linking to that post - I really like that cover, and I can't believe that represents a year of wear! It looks like new.

I loved the proprietary Amazon Cover for the kindle - No straps and all. Extremely light, with no fear of the loops stretching loose and the kindle falling down.
As for the cover color, I would always go for the darker color (read Black), cause it causes the eye to perceive better contrast in the reader.
Hypothetically, a jet black kindle will appear to have better contrast and a whiter screen then a pure white kindle. Its how the eyes work.

VictoriaP, that is a really nice case - is it the same as this here:-

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tuff-Luv-G7_...7760310&sr=1-3

Has anyone owned one of these - just concerned about how the kindle fits into the case

I've gone through 3 kindle covers in the past 7 months... The one i keep going back too is this cheap $16US cover from boxwave.

http://www.boxwave.com/products/sien...-case_3469.htm

(they have a few different colors)

It holds the kindle tight, It’s got nice padding to protect the kindle in travel... but most of all i like how it feels in my hand.

Everybody that i know with Kindle has bought one after holding mine.

If you can find it in the UK you may want to give it a try.

That's a beautiful leather case. Simple and elegant. The price is certainly right. I may have to pick up one of those.

M-edge has international retailers, I'm not sure where exactly I haven't checked them out myself but if your interested it might be worth a look:

No, the Tuff Luv case is completely different from the Noreve. The Tuff Luv is a flip style case with a leather framework that totally covers the bezel of the Kindle. I personally find that retention style very distracting, as I do corners-based systems.

The Noreve in your second link is what I have, in a different leather. The Kindle fits very snugly into mine; it's taken several falls (with the case closed) and sustained no damage.

Well the wrong case arrived today - also looked as though it had been used! So sent it back to mobilefun.co.uk...

Ordered the New Yorker book case from medge in the US and the orange softshell jacket for it - 25% off with a facebook code, if you let them post on your facebook wall :-)
