I'm generally a big fan of Penn and Teller, but libertarianism is practically a substitute religion for this talented duo, and it colors their political vision. Instead of spotlighting the activists, why didn't they interview climatologists?

Acid Rain reduction is doing better than expected in this country and most of Europe.
But elsewhere it is getting worse. From Cuba to China where up to "750,000 people a year die prematurely". China considers this news "delicate" and wanted it removed from a World Bank report. See how good it is to have control of the internet, we can read about it but not the Chinese. They may even need to switch the internet off in an emergency. But things in this country will be getting better (in spite of what some fools in Illinois want). Our leaders will get to it in time. There will be side affects though. But "Side affects" are for little people, not politicians. |

Acid rain is far less of a problem in the U.S. and European countries because government leaders in those countries listened to the scientists and took action to mitigate its effects. Like the comeback of the bald eagle and Florida alligators, the solution didn't come from inaction.

"Beware the Military-Industrial Complex" -- President Dwight Eisenhower 1961.
Today we might beware those who gain by "Global Warming".
The acid rain problem was derived from empirical evidence rather than theory. "Man made" Global warming really is contested by other scientists. Believe it or not. On the other hand, human influences on the manipulation of the data is very real. Current research is being conducted to prove a theory. Not to understand what is happening on earth. Obama aims to ax moon mission "We certainly don't need to go back to the moon," said one administration official. Instead the focus for NASA will be global warming. "In the meantime, the White House will direct NASA to concentrate on Earth-science projects — principally, researching and monitoring climate change —" "Everyone interviewed for this article spoke on condition of anonymity, either because they are not authorized to talk for the White House or because they fear for their jobs." The last has been a problem for dissenters everywhere. Especially at NOAA and NASA. Climategate: CRU Was But the Tip of the Iceberg "Perhaps the key point discovered by Smith was that by 1990, NOAA had deleted from its datasets all but 1,500 of the 6,000 thermometers in service around the globe. Now, 75% represents quite a drop in sampling population, particularly considering that these stations provide the readings used to compile both the Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN) and United States Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) datasets. These are the same datasets, incidentally, which serve as primary sources of temperature data not only for climate researchers and universities worldwide, but also for the many international agencies using the data to create analytical temperature anomaly maps and charts. Yet as disturbing as the number of dropped stations was, it is the nature of NOAA’s “selection bias” that Smith found infinitely more troubling. It seems that stations placed in historically cooler, rural areas of higher latitude and elevation were scrapped from the data series in favor of more urban locales at lower latitudes and elevations. Consequently, post-1990 readings have been biased to the warm side not only by selective geographic location, but also by the anthropogenic heating influence of a phenomenon known as the Urban Heat Island Effect (UHI). Global Warming: The Other Side - Segment 4, Part 1/2 (You can skip the first 40 seconds) Warming or Cooling? "The first thing to be aware of is that the warming effect of carbon dioxide is strongly logarithmic. Of the 3° C. that carbon dioxide contributes to the greenhouse effect, the first 20 ppm has a greater effect than the following 400 ppm." I'm quite willing to bet that few will read any of this, or watch the videos. We know what we want to know. Al Gore's claim that the debate has ended has settled it for many |

Was Margaret Thatcher the first climate sceptic?
A very curious issue. When the UK had problems with oil, she said we have to curb CO2. Much later, when not in the power, she all of sudden took the other side. It is all about politics and feeding up lazy guys(allegedly scientists) who don't want to work honestly. |

If your population are not afraid of something 'other than you' you are not govrning correctly.
Anyone remember big scary holes in the ozone layer? Cured by expensive switch from CFC's? Check it out. Same old story, fear, control, my agenda served, bucks in my pocket, blah blah. |
