this "Silly" topic has become quite serious.

I lost my shepherd/chow mix at age 13 on the day after Thanksgiving 2008....he had a great Thanksgiving dinner with Turkey, Stuffing, Gravy and all the trimmings the day before he left us.

I still miss him.

His name was Barkley.

It's the Australian Taxation Office software for completing your annual tax return - it only runs on Windows. Ah, well...it'll give me inspiration to install and upgrade my Home Designer Suite software.

The thing is though, I'm about to go 40, and piling the icecubes into my drink and crushing them with my teeth is something I've done all my toothed life. Anyway...right now I'm lying in bad with my second morning coffe and Maggie (stretching and kicking me, reminding me it's dog-walking time. I'm going to think of h_t today, every time she does her unsubtle prodding, or every time Oscar does his sad-happy-wag-pat-me looks and gentle nudges for attention.

I bought this dog for my wife a couple of weeks after we got married around 14 years ago. She was our only dog. She watched over three of my children throughout her life. She was a good dog.

She was a pound puppy that they were going to put to sleep because no one wanted her. She had a hernia and staples in her stomach. Most people do not like to get a brand new puppy that is already starting off with issues. I would have kept her alive if there was a chance that she could live pain free and not have breathing issues.

She had a good life.

HT, I am very sorry to hear of this sad news. She sounds like she was a very loved and special part of your family. My thoughts are with you in this sad and difficult time.

In honour of the Ozzies having captured Alex and the iPad, I have purchased a new set of flannelette pyjamas. This time they are pink not blue (there weren't any blues ones

) , but they still have kitties on them.

(((hugs))) sorry to hear that H_T. Doesn't matter how much it was the right thing to do, how good a life they've had with you, it still hurts.

Oh dear! Hope everything's healing up now though!

A couple of weeks ago, I was getting some really odd looks by people at work, and quite a few too-concerned queries of whether I was OK. I only realised why when I went to the loo... I have a patch of dark skin just under one eye, which was particularly noticeable that day, and combined with the circles from a couple of nights of not sleeping well looked very much like a bruise. Plus, some-how, I'd managed to scratch just above my eyebrow in just the same place it furrows when you start to frown. Overall impression was that I'd been hit in the face

I am using this post next time some-one looks askance at me for using my teeth as scissors, grips etc.
