I also spent at least six months researching ereaders and nearly bought a nook a dozen times, but the price and sluggishness of the nook in the beginning kept me from buying in. I ended up getting a jetbook lite because for $99 I figured it would be a good entry reader to see if a dedicated reader was right for me. It was and the jetbook just fueled me more to get a nook.
My friend with a nook swapped ereaders with me for a week and after spending a couple of evenings getting used to it I ended up buying a Nook today. The thing that sold me was reading at night in bed with my lamp. The jetbook screen is fine in normal light or sunlight, but in a dark room with a lamp you really have to hit the reflective LCD just right and I was always changing the angle over and over. This was not an issue with eink. Looks great at any viewing angle and of course I'm enjoying all the other features of the Nook including a dictionary that actually has words I look up. I have a huge collection of stuff from Fictionwise and ereader.com over the years so the nook is perfect there and I really like it much more with the speedier page turning on 1.3. The $50 gift card was nice as well. They rang up the nook at $209 so it even saved me some sales tax. I'll probably sell the jetbook lite, but it did help me on the road to owning a nook. |

Count me in as a Nook lover, too. I was going to get a OnyxBoox as my first ereader, but my husband convinced me to get the more popular(icized) Nook and I haven't looked back (okay, maybe once or twice).

Well for me I got alurtek libre pro because it did everything I wanted at a great price point. And to be honest I was not sure the e reader experience was for me (did not have any friends who had e readers I could borrow so I was really buying blind) .And contrary to to conventional wisdom here the large number of free books that came with Libre was strong sell point , I could test out the e reading experience during my 30 day return period at fry's and figure out whether or not the e reading experience was for me. Pricing and features is what drove my decision (trying to keep it under 160.00 usd) really narrow the field and eliminate both the knindle and the nook.
