Hey, no problem with people discussing the pros and cons...I just don't think it's particularly useful to have the same people posting the same complaints over and over again.

Maybe I'll just change my sig to "We GET IT already, the iPad's not for you."

I only use ignore lists for full-on trolls who have absolutely nothing of worth to say. Sonist certainly doesn't fit in that category; he's just a little pedantic on the subject of the iPad, imo.

Enough of trolls! This is a satire thread and let's keep in the light hearted vein of amusement it was meant to be.

Thanks.

It is true that apple seem to attract for what ever reason a type of Anti Apple Person. I dont understant why people who are anti apple are so Vocal about it. Any Sony or Anti Amazon Kindle people are not so noisy. Maybe its because the "Generic Anti Apple" person is deaf, so they have to shout.

Oh, the anti-Amazon anti-Kindle noise was quite loud every time a new device has been introduced.

I've also noticed that the Miata has just that teensy little spare tire in the trunk. What if I wanted to use it as a tire swing? We need full sized spares, people!

I'd hope you had the maturity to still ignore them in that case. There's no need to feel the need to respond to every post you disagree with it it's annoying you so much.

Again, if you just want all Apple praise, go back to the Apple focused forums you left here for a while back where the mods don't allow any dissent.

The trolling is over, if you can't just put the people who annoy you on ignore, then by all means leave and go to the Apple sites.

You're defensive posts have gotten to the point of being as annoying as those from the trolls a few weeks back. Take a couple deep breaths, and calm down. There's no reason to take a silly tech gadget so seriously!

This price was a bit on the high side but not too bad. The reason I am passing on the Civic is because it does not come with a radio, air conditioning, or heater. I might be willing to work around these shortcomings if I could install aftermarket parts. However, the cars hardware is locked and I cannot install a radio, or A/C and heater. The car does get you from point A to point B with no problems, but having a radio and A/C and heater are just must have items for me. I know many will think these are optional components and will be perfectly fine without them. I am waiting for a car with some of the same features as the Civic but with all of the missing must-have items.
That is a better analogy for me, as in that analogy I DO want a compact car. So it's not a case of being disappointed the Civic isn't a truck or SUV etc.

Speaking literally, I DO want a tablet device that is not a full tablet PC. The iPad is just lacking a few features that are deal breakers for me, so I was disappointed as it gets a ton of other things like form factor, battery life etc. right.

Talking about bad analogies - How about your USA "Compact" Cars which are bigger than the average UK Family car. But I guess then we only have 100000 Square Miles of total land mass in the UK, and not all of it are roads.

Steve Jobs claims to be a perfectionist, but puts out a product that is crippled in several ways (e.g., no direct USB mounting, non-interoperable file system). Those who criticize Apple on this board are not all one-sided. You'll note that many multi-device users have criticized the shortcomings of all the e-readers they happen to own. Being realists, we try to enjoy each product for its merits. The iPad has proven itself to be useful in my line of work. My K2 gives me the ability to buy ebooks at prices usually lower than the competition. I look forward to buying the next generation Kindle DX, when/if it supports PDF zoom. In one family, you can own many cars (Honda Civic, Corvette, and Land Rover), each with different functionality. Same rule applies to e-readers. Naturally, there are many members on this forum who are gadget junkies. Like people who adopt several pets, they are endlessly fascinated by multiplicity and diversity.

Competition is what keeps them all innovating. Else we'd still be stuck running CPM on a mini that can keep our house warm. Wordstar anyone?

Yep, competition is great. I hope competitors do a really good job with Android tablets, WebOS tablets (HP) etc.

Not only will it give us more options, if some sell well it will put some pressure on Apple to maybe add some features like file management--or at least a robust, centralized file sharing system that all apps are required to access etc.

Somethings like Flash, a totally open app store etc. we'll never get, but I could get around some of those shortcomings if Apple fixes some of my other gripes in a 2nd or 3rd gen iPad and none of the competitors have matched the form factor, touch screen responsivity, battery life etc. Apple has set the bar high on those fronts.
