I can do this by manually selecting the books that I have uploaded to my device (nook) and then create the catalog. Calibre only creates the catalog for the selected titles.

Now if only there was a way to open the books directly in the device when clicking on the titles listed in the catalog.....

I've been trying 0.6.41 catalog generating and I cannot get it to work.

First attempt was on full library of 360+ books. Stopped after about 25% of the usual time for the job. No obvious errors but catalog would not open in reader and was only 50KB instead of 3MB+.

Tried epub again with only 5 books. Still not working, calibre shows the size as 0.2MB, actual filesize is 1.5KB.

Also tried mobi format catalog for different 5 books, does not work.
On XP.

Sorry about the brevity, I'm in a rush.

Catalog generation is definitely broken in 0.6.41. The problem has been identified, 0.6.42 will be released shortly.

I don't mean to transfer my ignorance to you, but I thought the same thing until I realized that the catalog was the first epub (at least the first that made a difference) that used a true Table of Contents and on the menu page of the book I had to select Table of Contents instead of selecting begin.

I too have 1000+ ebooks and once I looked in the right spot it was surprisingly easy to navigate through. If this isn't your experience maybe it will help someone else.

Excellent work providing this feature.

I had a chance to look at it, I preferred the series in front of the title as previously implemented. I enjoyed having all titles for a given series together in the Title category and I'm sad to see the change.

I use series and tags the same to create collections on my PRS-505. I do not have tags (genres) for most series. Keeping Series and tags (genres) to a minimum allows my reader to be less busy with collections. What I would like to see is for Series to be a separate category on the top level of the TOC.

Currently you have:

Description
Authors
Titles
Recently Added
Genres

I would propose that Series be added to this level.

Thanks again for the great feature.

There is a Series Section feature request ticket here; please review and add your comments.

As you now know, the Authors Section lists the titles in your preferred style with the series info as a prefix, the Titles Section lists them with the series info as a suffix. I felt this was the best compromise to satisfy both camps.

Agreed, because having all titles for a given series listed together in the Title category meant that it effectively WASN'T a Title category and a catalog of books without a Title list would be odd to put it mildly

PS: the catalog in 0.6.42 looks fine and still seems faster to generate than 0.6.40.

I wonder if someone could give a second opinion on the following.

When I view a Catalog epub on my Sony PRS-505. The Recently_Added TOC looks like the attached image.

The first item (Last 30 days) points to the correct place. But every other item points to the same place, i.e. the first page of the Genres section.

Please could someone else check this out on their reader and let me know whether they have the same problem - or perhaps it's just me. I don't have the same problem when viewing in the Calibre Viewer. I'm not sure whether this is new to v6.42 or whether it's always been like this.

By the way, I agree with banjomike. The Titles section as in v6.42 is the only place to easily find a book if you can only remember the Title.

If you browse the epub in calibre's built-in viewer, the navigation works correctly (for me). My guess is that this is an EPUB implementation issue on the Sony. It would be helpful to know how other EPUB eReaders behave.

Yes, as I said, I don't have a problem when browsing on the PC, only on my reader.

All the other Catalog sections work correctly on the 505.

I may have an idea of what's causing this, but it would still be useful to know about other eReaders. Nookies ... ?

Previous versions seemed to have a redundant entry on the Astak Pocket Pro
+My_booklist Opens to show the sections (My_booklist is in position 1)

The section opens with the Section showing as the first item on the list, which, if selected returns to the previous list.
This uses up one of the 8 slots (per index page) and is not really needed, since the PEz has a Back/return button.
The previous level had 2 spare slots, so not really an issue.
