Glare on PRS900 and screen cover

Hi Guys,

I took the plunge and went for a CapDase Aris Protective screen cover. I am very happy with the results. Basically, I went to a computer store in Hong Kong and bought a 10 inch Laptop screen cover for the Lenovo laptop from CapDase. It has the Anti-Glare reduced finger print matt finish.
They guy there help to cut it into shape and stick it on for me. The total price was HK$150 for the protective cover and HK$50 for the service. I am quite happy with the results. I think it is definitely better and less reflective with the matt finish.

The good thing about being in Hong Kong though is that it is very convenience to get shop around since there are so many computer places that stock screen covers and the shop assistant are eager to please and get your $$$. To be honest it's not a lot HK$50 for the service. BTW there is also a new protective cover called i-mask which can cover the whole machine and protect it from scratches. I don't think I could have got it done so easily in the UK. I just got my Nexus One covered for only HK$200

BTW how much do they charge for this protective covers in the States/UK?

now that the Ipad has surfaced they are suddenly interested in touchscreens!

We are still dealing with the first generation of e Readers though they have made improvements to them the past couple of years. I am sure the new technology will correct the glare issue and within 2 years Amazon and Sony will have new E Readers that will be touch screen with reduced glare.

For me I was always told by my parents not to read in low light as it is not good for your eyes. So I always read my 900 in proper lighting as I always did when reading books. There was some good points made about magazines. If I ever went to the beach with a magazine or even a book, I had to always wear sunglasses when reading to reduce glare. Also to reduce the amount of sun reflecting off the white pages into my eyes. It is the same as when you go outside in the snow and have the sun reflect off the snow in your eyes.

Glare is the one thing. You can handle it or you don't like it.

Reading with appropriate lighting is the key. Low light is working depending on font size, but then again, no one would read his newspaper at night with the lights off
Dim light may work on real print and be a little worse for ereaders with touch layer, but if you have to have the light on anyways, why not turn it up a little?

While the film does nothing (or at least imperceptible to me) to reduce the glare on the touchscreen, I figure it does protect the touch surface from scratches and I'm happy about that.

Not a "buy" reccommendation imho
