Talking Thanks for Book Designer and Forum Help

I've had my reader for some three weeks now and just love it. It goes everywhere I go and any five minute break is used to read a few more pages.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for Book Designer. I've been using that to convert all sorts of reading and it just works for me. I've gotten used to it so now the conversion process flows smoothly. THANK YOU.

Also, thank you to the forum members also. Through your efforts I have been able to customize the fonts I use, the display size, the clock (which I LOVE), and the joystick page turn.

All of you have made me go back to enjoy reading like I used to! Thanks for that! Look forward to years of good reading and good sharing on this forum.

I'm glad we were able to help. The Sony Reader is very nice for reading books with as long as you know how to use the tools to convert and how to get other books besides those offered by the Connect Store Feel free to jump in and ask any question you want.

Pitolee. I'm not sure if you are. But when you convert something... )As long as its in Public Domain) Please upload it here for the rest of us to read.

Sony connect bookstore was designed by retarded monkeys on crack and this forum and creating your own is the only intelligent way to get content for the reader.

Hopefully that will change soon...

P.s. I been too chicken to put the clock on mine since the readers software appears to be a bit balky still?

Has it messed yours up at all?

I have installed the clock and the patches to give me a smaller menu font and to turn the plastic knob from history to page back/page forward. Works fine here. The clock only gets updated when you change a page. Ans you set the clock by syncing the Reader to your computer running Connect.

That's not right. The Connect website was created using an infinite number of monkeys typing at infinite number of computers. Sony took the first code that looked like it might work.

The Connect website uses two servers. The front end we see and the back end we don't see that has the data. The data server is made by Fisher-Price. They run tin cans connected by a string to get the data to and from each server.

Then the front end server takes the data and if today is the 3rd day of the 5th month of the year of the duck-billed platypus, it lets you see it. Otherwise, it gives you random data that has nothing to do with what you want.

Any mention of duck-platypi is, of course inherently hysterical. But Roy's line is easier to rip off re-use later. But your post made me laugh, JSWolf, and I needed a chuckle at that particular moment, so, I thank you!

Happy to give you a laugh. But you know, I'm probably not too far off as to how that POS was created.

I have noticed no negative effects whatsoever from adding the clock, changing to better fonts, having the right joystick change pages... I highly recommend customizing your reader - if for no other reason than to lose the fear of bricking your unit (I've bricked it and unbricked it a few times already). But seriously,
you only run risk of bricking it if you change the fonts incorrectly - not by using the excellent script changes. Try them - you will never go back. The clock is subtle only a glance away - SUCH a help to me.

You're more than welcome pitolee! But if it wasn't for Igor his excellent flasher I wouldn't be able to make the joystick and menu font patch. I really enjoy the joystick patch myself and find myself using it a lot. It really depends on which side I'm lying in my bed when I read if I will use the left page flip buttons or the right joystick.

This is the best organized forum I use at the moment. Great members with a tremendous respect for each other.
