Some of us look to these forums for information rather than controversy... I'm just looking forward to seeing some good objective reviews.

Personally, I think that B&N has done even Kindle owners like myself a great service with their reader. Since the Nook's announcement by B&N, the Kindle's been upgraded so it can now display PDFs (sort of), can be used internationally, costs less, and can be read sideways. And the new Kindle for PC is great, especially for getting and reading the free samples from Amazon. And we've been promised Kindle Mac software (hurrah!) and folders (double hurrah!!). Isn't a little competition grand?

So good luck to B&N and I hope the Nook is even better than it promises to be. It will benefit ALL ereader owners and buyers.

The only thing that's obvious is that you seem to take great delight in trolling this thread and casting B&N with ill intentions without fact, only baseless accusations.

If you are indeed so offended by B&N that an electronic device has missed its ship date by mere days -- after upgrading shipping and providing users with compensatory renumeration -- then perhaps you should cancel your pre-order? (Oh, wait...)

Else, I find it rather disingenuous for a self-professed Kindle advocate to be decrying B&N -- in the B&N sub-fora no less -- in an effort to, what, "save" us foolish consumers that pre-ordred the nook from the evils of B&N?

Just saw the show 'Ellen' - she gave away Nooks and said that they can't be bought yet. But she didn't say anything as when it's going to be available. Lucky people in the crowd.

Does she do that often? Give stuff away I mean? On todays shows the gadget were over 2k I think. Nice ones too. Never seen her show before. Where do I get tickets?

Hope you all get your Nooks soon - waiting is hell. Let us know how you go with it.

Ellen's audience received $300 gift cards to buy a nook - not actual devices.

I don't know about her gifting. She seems to be trying to take over what will be the Oprah void.

She does this every year and calls it the "12 Days of Giving".

See nook in Stores on Monday
by Administrator Kevin 11 minutes ago

We’re coming up on a big week for nook, and wanted to share some important information with you today.

First, we’re excited to report that all Barnes & Noble stores will have nook demo units available beginning on Monday. Our customers have told us how eager they are to experience nook for themselves, and we are happy to make it easier for them to do so.

We have also decided that based on the high volume of pre-orders, we will not be have for-sale inventory in our stores until after the holidays. We will provide details as the dates become more clear.

The best way to secure a nook of your own is to order online or to place an order at your local Barnes & Noble store. Orders received after 10 a.m. ET today are expected to ship on or about Jan. 15.

As a reminder, the first customer deliveries of nook will arrive the middle of next week. We are excited about this, and we can’t wait to hear your feedback on the world’s most advanced eBook reader.

Thanks everyone, and happy weekend.

Uh.... well, someone should tell their stores. Called two today and one said they were not getting one until next year, the other had no idea.
