Delivery Tomorrow

My wife surprised me this morning by telling me she ordered me a sony 600 (We orginally ordered a jetbook but it was sold out) I was going to just wait some more and research and she went ahead and bought the 600 as it was the one I was leaning towards.

I'm really excited it'll be here tomorrow I cant wait to get it! I was reading on these forums that recommended and medge case with their light (total investment 60 dollars or so)

I already have calibre set up and have downloaded (via cut and paste) Monster Nation and that series.

I'll let you know first real impressions tomorrow, playing with the 600 every time I see one at a store has really sold me on the touch screen

Edit: Looking specifically at http://www.medgestore.com/products/prs600-latitude.psp

All of the M-Edge cases/covers are quite nice.

I have the Go Jacket and the Leisure Jacket (for the beach).

Congratulations and what a great wife you have!!

I've had the Sony 505 for over a year and love it. I use to load it full of books but found that it was too many to choose from. Now, I only load about 30 -40 books. If, I read a book a day, it would take me over a month before it was time to reload. That seems to work for me.

My mom does read a book a day, so I load hers every two months with about 100 books and she is happy.

I've found that I don't even use the card to store books for either of us .. so it really was something that we didn't need, as there is computer access for her Reader at least every two months for adding new books.

Check out MR's ebooks that have been beautifully handcrafted by some very dedicated MR members. ePub format and Sony BBeB / lrf format

Plus these free ebook sites.. feedbooks.com and manybooks.net

Free and for purchase ebooks .. smashwords.com and baen.com Plus Baen has a free library

And fictionwise multiformat ebooks.

Calibre is great to manage your library of DRM free books. and Kovid, the creator, frequents the forums here. We even have a dedicated Calibre forum.

Enjoy your new Sony, have fun in the forums, and ask if you have any questions.

PS Check my signature and click on the links to find more information.

The 600 is a great reader! I have had mine for a couple of weeks and am totally in love with it! My hubby bought it for me as a birthday present - in the hopes that I will stop buying books as we have no space to put them! I was a bit skeptical about e-readers, as I am a bit traditional, but I love it. It's so easy to use, and I can carry around many books with me without them weighing me down.

I have an Oberon (www.oberondesign.com) cover on order. They are more costly than the M-Edge cases but they are gorgeous. Can't wait for mine to arrive.

Have fun with your Sony!

Make sure you try it out in bright sunlight to see if fades to unreadability when you turn the page. Consensus seems to be that this is a defect, as some units do NOT fade. Assuming that's important to you, some people are apparently much more sunlight-averse!

Most my reading is done out of direct sun light but I will test, I suppose if thats the case and it is to bothersome I can send it back for the 300...but the bigger screen and touch sold me on the 600

I think you misunderstand me--it seems that some units have a defective screen that washes out when pages are turned in direct sunlight. Other people have 600's that do NOT fade. So if it washes out, you should be able to call Sony and get a replacement Touch. With some diffculty depending on who you get on the other end of the line, apparently--others have reported no problems getting replacements, I had to push a bit.

I've had mine for a week and love it, I use it for hours (both work and leisure) everyday and it's slotted into my life fantastically.

Well I got a chance to really use the reader this weekend we went on a 4 hour each way bus ride so 8 hours of reading later I lost 1 battery bar (WOW!)

There was some light reflection in bad lighting but not to bad. I got a lot of questions from friends about it and convinced 2 people they needed to get one
