If that's true then I haven't said a thing

Better than I'd expected for sure.

I became one of those after being on your side for a while: Even if I would like to have a well-thought, easy-to-use dictionary in my cybook, it's definetly not a "must have".
The very simple reason is, when I read a pbook, my dictionary is beside my desk (and my bed) and I have to stop and put my book down to look it up in the dictionary (or Internet or the smartphone I don't have but is a very good portable alternative...).
Why should I mind that much to do it with my cybook?

Does that make me an "average" user? So be it, it IS "a second or a third thing" my "reader has to have" The absolute first being...

Well, it was nearly ready, good enough to give to some people two months ago. How much longer could it possibly take?

By the way, has the date of first birthday of the latest Cybook firmware passed already?

The zip archive for the 1.2 build 796 firmware has a modification date of 5th September. So yes, it's been over a year since the last release of a firmware update for the CyBook Gen 3

The updated mobi firmware on gen works fine.
The ePub one still need works (at least , it did at the time the opus was released). Trust me, you'd rather wait than having the reader crashing on you every now and then.

So why not release it so everybody can get folders. I have put my Gen 3 in a drawer and read only paper books for now. With better navigation I might start using it again. And with page numbers I will start using it again.

People might be interested in this progress report, which may have implications for the timing of the firmware release.

About the middle of June, around the same time as the Paris meeting I broke the screen on my Cybook and sent it to Paris for repair. I specifically asked them to upgrade it to the new firmware so that I could read ePub.

I've had only one direct response (after a lot of nagging) to the effect that the Cybook had arrived and they would work on it. There was some second hand indication that they would consider upgrading with the new firmware as I requested.

A few days ago I received a tracking report from Fed Ex that the Cybook was on it's way back to me. There had not been anything from Bookeen and no discussion of cost, which I understand to be the usual procedure. I sent an email to the Bookeen person named on the Fed Ex email, but have had no reply.

The Cybook arrived today. The screen has been fixed. The firmware appears to be the same as it was when I sent it (Boo Reader version 1.2 build 802) and the PID is the same. There is no mention of folders, and it reads mobipocket but not ePub.

I had hoped that they were keeping my Cybook while they fixed their firmware, and that once that was done they'd install the new firmware. But they did not. I wonder if they have given up on fixing the firmware.

Regards, Alex

Page number is ePub only
Bookeen want to release the two firmware at once. Or close to. (Well, given the delay with ePub, it seams that maybe it wasn't the best of ideas.)
Then, maybe the problem is something else. The people from bookeen looked at the serial numbers to know what version we had. Maybe they want to make a version that will work with all the gen 3.

Yes, I know. That is why I really want the ePub version.

Not a good idea. And if they had released the mobi version they would have got bug reports concerning the new stuff that would have been useful for the ePub release.

Not the question is if they will release the new firmware before I can buy a txtr reader.

Unless you have probelms that won't be solved by the update, it would be a stupid idea at this point
